Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli Going For Another Summer of Cashes

Level 9 : 400/800, 80 ante
Bryan Piccioli
Bryan Piccioli

Former WSOP November Niner and two-time WSOP Gold Bracelet winner Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli spent his time in the 2020 WSOP Online Bracelet Series getting his grind on, and the sheer volume of results for Piccioli, who sports over $4.5 million in lifetime Hendon Mob reported earnings, speaks for itself.

Piccioli started his WSOP Online series with the WSOP.com series, and recorded a staggering 14 cashes during the 31-event series. He netted an eleventh-place finish in Event #29: $2,000 NLH Deepstack for $15,612, and followed that up with a deep run in the final event, Event #31: $1,000 NLH Championship, finishing in twenty-seventh place for $9,897.

The next month, during the GGPoker portion of the WSOP Online, Piccioli added six more cashes to his resume, including another deep run in Event #77: $5,000 NLH Main Event. Piccioli managed to navigate his way to a twenty-third place finish in the event that was eventually won by Stoyan Madanzhiev, and for that deep run, Piccioli added another $79,625 to his account.

While the cashes aren't quit there yet, Piccioli already top last year's impressive run of 14 cashes this year after winning his second WSOP bracelet in event Event #12: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo Deepstack, his first since 2013 at the WSOP Asia-Pacific $1,100 NLH Accumulator Event.

WSOP History: Looking Back at the November (and October) Nines

Level 9 : 400/800, 80 ante
2013 WSOP November Nine
2013 WSOP November Nine

No stage in poker stood as a bigger goal for a tournament player than the final table of the WSOP Main Event. For years, that meant going to sleep knowing you had the chance of a lifetime, to go down in poker history in the next few days as the cameras captured your every bet, raise and fold.

All of that changed in 2008.

The year after Jerry Yang's Main Event victory was broadcast to all on ESPN's standard tape delay, organizers made a decision to try to increase the excitement and anticipation around the final table: after the final nine was reached, play would be paused. At that point, everyone left would go home with 9th-place money and the players would reconvene a few months later to play out the final table on a short tape delay.

That lasted until 2016, and this is the history of the November (and October) Nines.

Depaulo Loses Set-Over-Set

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Ryan Depaulo
Ryan Depaulo

Ryan "Joeyisamush" Depaulo raised from early position and then called the three-bet "Ne2Cards74" put out from the big blind.

The {k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} board was checked to the {9-Hearts} river where "Ne2Cards74" led out for 3,600 and then called the 10,764 all in raise from Depaulo.

Depaulo showed {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a turned set but it was no good as "Ne2Cards74" flopped a set with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} to win the pot and eliminate Depaulo from the tournament.

Berkey Loses Race to Pillai

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Matt Berkey
Matt Berkey

A series of preflop raises saw Matt "berykey11_s4y" Berkey four-bet jam from the big blind for 8,688 and Shankar "Burgersssss" Pillai called on the button.

Shankar "Burgersssss" Pillai: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Matt "berykey11_s4y" Berkey: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Berkey was ahead with his made hand until the {4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop appeared pairing Pillai's queen.

The {6-Diamonds} turn put three diamonds on the board but neither player held one in their hand and Berkey was drawing only a five but the {3-Clubs} river ended his tournament.

Hero Call No Good for Tice

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Landon Tice
Landon Tice

"OrcinusOrca" raised to 2,000 under the gun, Landon "ActionDealer" Tice called from the big blind.

The flop came the {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Tice check-called a bet of 1,300. The turn was the {q-Clubs}. This time it was a bet of 4,655 that Tice check-called.

The river came the {9-Spades}. The pot was 17,120. Tice checked again, "OrcinusOrca" bet pot size which covered the remaining 13,901 of Tice who thought for a little while before calling.

Tice had a pair of fives with the {a-Spades}{5-Spades} which was no good vs the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} of "OrcinusOrca" and just like that Tice was gone after the river call.
