Konnikova Defends her Big Blind and Scoops the Pot

A player in early raised to 8,500 and both the small blind and Maria Konnikova in the big blind made the call.

The flop came {j-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and it was checked around to the turn {5-Spades}. The small blind checked and Konnikova bet 15,000 which both players quickly called.

The river was {4-Spades} and it was checked through and Konnikova showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a straight and she scooped up the pot.
