Chen Busts on River

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Pete Chen
Pete Chen

Tonio Röder opened to 100,000 in early position and Pete Chen jammed in his stack of 555,000 from middle position. Action came back around to Röder who briefly thought about it and called.

Pete Chen: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Tonio Röder: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

Chen was ahead but Röder was very live. Chen took out his phone and started recording what he hoped would be a double-up on his path to a deeper run as the dealer fanned the {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. Chen was still ahead but now needed to fade more outs.

The {6-Diamonds} came on the turn to change nothing, but the {q-Clubs} spiked the river to give Röder a straight, sending Chen to the payout desk and leaving him with a video he may not want to watch again.
