Rones Shows Down Quads

Todd Rones, the tournament debutante, re-raised from the small blind before the flop and was called by an opponent in middle position.

The flop came and Rones checked, then raised when his opponent bet. The player in middle position called.

Rones bet in the dark before the was dealt on the turn. "Am I allowed to do that," he asked. His opponent called, then called again on the river.

Rones turned over for quad queens. "Yay, I got a shot at tomorrow," the retired caterer yelled as he jumped out of his chair.

Prasetyo's Not Going to Bed Yet

With 19,000 in the middle, Aditya Prasetyo was already all in before the flop.

There were still two players live on the side and the small blind checked to the player on the button who put in a bet. The small blind quickly got out of the way and both hands were tabled.

Prasetyo was behind to the flop pair of queens and the on the turn was no help. The on the river gave Prasetyo the nut-straight though to scoop the pot.

Nasr's Run Ends Late on Day 1

Mazzola Takes Big One Off Zinno, Doubles Bronshtein

Alexander Mazzola raised from the button and called when Anthony Zinno re-raised. The flop came , Zinno led out, and Mazzola called.

Zinno slowed down and check-called bets on both the turn and river. Mazzola turned over for two pair on the flop and Zinno mucked his hand.

On the next hand, Mazzola raised again and called when Yuval Bronshtein re-raised. The flop came , Bronshtein bet, Mazzola put him all in for his last 1,000 chips, and Bronshtein called.

Bronshtein showed for top pair and a flush draw, while Mazzola had for a straight draw. Mazzola failed to hit the turn and river and the defending champion doubled up at the end of the night.
