Early Double For Morris

Level 1 : 100/200, 200 ante
Arthur Morris
Arthur Morris

It was brought to the attention of a PokerNews live reporter that there was a double up within the first ten minutes of play.

There was 5,100 in the middle on a flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} which caused a raising war between Arthur Morris in the small blind and his opponent in the big blind where eventually both players were all-in.

Big Blind: {8-}{8-}{x-}{x-}
Arthur Morris : {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

The big blind had top set and Morris had a gut-shot straight draw and flush draw. The {7-Spades} on the turn gave Morris an unwanted set, but the {3-Clubs} on the river gave Morris the flush and the early chip lead.

Fabian Brandes opened the action to 700 from under the gun. The small blind and big blind both made the call.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and all players checked. On the {10-Clubs} turn action picked up when the small blind bet out 1,000, the big blind called and Brandes raised the pot to 6,300. Both players folded and Brandes dragged in the chips.

Cliff Josephy

On the flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} in a pot of roughly 4,000 Cliff Josephy checked from the small blind and his opponent bet 3,000 from the hijack.

Josephy check-raised to 13,000 and his opponent put some thought in before folding and opened his hand of {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to show Josephy what he had laid down.

"I'll let you pick two cards", Josephy said jokingly as he was stacking his chips.

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Tong Li
Tong Li

With 17,000 in the middle on a flop of {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} the small blind bet 7,000 and was met with an all-in from recent WSOP Gold Bracelet winner Tong Li on the button. The small blind called for 13,500 total.

Small Blind: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Tong Li: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Li flopped Broadway and had the backup of the royal flush draw. The small blind needed the board to pair to win or a king to chop the pot. Neither came as the board fell {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} to send the small blind to the exit.

In a pot of 12,900 on a flop of {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} Fabian Brandes checked from the hijack as did his opponent in the cutoff.

On the {8-Clubs} turn Brandes check-called a bet of 6,000. When the {7-Spades} hit the river Brandes checked again and his opponent bet 12,000. Brandes quickly called and the hands were shown.

Fabien Brandes: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Kassela Takes the Chiplead

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

Frank Kassela raised on the button and both Ayaz Mahmood in the small blind and the big blind called.

The dealer fanned a flop {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Mahmood checked to the big blind who bet 5,000. Kassela quickly called and Mahmood let it go. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and went check-check.

The {8-Hearts} paired the board on the river and the big blind bet 5,000. Kassela responded by raising it to 15,000 and after some thinking, the big blind called. Kassela tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the full house and scooped the pot as his opponent mucked.

Kassela, who busted two players in the same hand a few minutes earlier, has now climbed to a stack above 400,000 chips.

Christian Harder
Christian Harder

In a four-way raised pot, the flop showed {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} when Christian Harder checked from the small blind, followed by his three opponents.

The turn fell the {10-Clubs} and Harder checked again. The big blind bet 11,000 and the hijack called while the third player got out of the way. Harder considered it for some time before calling.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Harder shoved for 28,500. The big blind folded and the hijack tanked for two minutes before sending a chip for the call.

Harder tabled {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} for straight and his opponent mucked his hand. Harder, who late registered this event, has now more than tripled his starting stack.

Ryan D'Angelo
Ryan D'Angelo

The action was picked up in a pot of 82,500 on a flop of {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Ryan D'Angelo moved all in for 50,000 from the button after being checked to by his opponent in the big blind.

The big blind went deep into the tank for at least 5 minutes before the clock was called and the player had 30-seconds to act. He eventually flashed the table {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and mucked his hand on the last second of the countdown.

"Will you tell me later what you had", said the big blind as D'Angelo stacked his chips and nodded to confirm he would.
