Da Costa Triples Through Ensan

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Fernando Viana Da Costa got his short stack in from early position, Sean Blanchard got his chips in from the hijack, and both players were at risk against Hossein Ensan in the big blind.

Fernando Viana Da Costa: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Sean Blanchard: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Hossein Ensan: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

"I folded nines, f***," said Phil Hellmuth at the table.

The board ran out {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs} to keep both at-risk players alive, with Da Costa taking the main pot with his turned straight and Blanchard taking the side pot.

"Even when you have the best hand, you make the right fold," remarked a player to Hellmuth.

Taylor Nears a Million; Fox and Rokita Out

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A noise was heard at a nearby table where Guy Taylor was seen collecting a huge pot and Elio Fox and Roland Rokita were standing up with no chips.

Taylor had {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} on a {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} completed board to near a million in chips, while Fox and Rokita made their way to the payout desk.

Gathy Ousts Opponent

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Gathy
Michael Gathy

A player had gotten the rest of their short stack in from the big blind and was at risk against Michael Gathy on the button.

At-Risk Player: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Michael Gathy: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The at-risk player looked to be in prime position to survive on the {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, but the {6-Diamonds} hit the turn, and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board to eliminate him, as Gathy added to his stack.

Todd Ester: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Michael Gathy: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
