Gydesen Applies Pressure

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Erick Gydesen opened to 1,800 from middle position and was called by Ryan Feldman out of the small blind. Sebastien Syssau then three-bet to 5,800 out of the big blind and was called by both Gydesen and Feldman to generate three-way action heading to the flop.

Feldman checked on a flop of {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Syssau continued for 8,000 only to see Gydesen raise to 24,000. Feldman quickly folded to send the action back to Syssau who seemed distressed with the decision at hand. After tanking for over a minute, Syssau decided on a fold to send a sizable pot Gydesen's direction.

Gnatenko Plays Back at Kuhn

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Robert Kuhn's attempt to use his massive stack to bully his table just met some resistance from Oleksander Gnatenko.

Kuhn and Gnatenko went heads-up to a flop of {3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades} when Gnatenko bet 2,500 from the button. Kuhn called to see the {k-Hearts} on the turn.

Kuhn this time led out for 3,000. Gnatenko came back with a raise to 12,000 and Kuhn quickly mucked.

Chidwick Hits The Rail on Day 2

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick is one of the world's top poker players and was coming off a deep run in last year's WSOP Main Event. However, if he was your pick to win it all this year, his run in this year's Main Event just came to an end.

On a board reading {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{k-Hearts}, there was a little over 15,000 chips in the middle with Zilong Zhang and Chidwick heads-up in a pot. Zhang checked to Chidwick who threw in a bet only to have Zhang shove all in.

Chidwick gave it some thought and eventually called off his stack of around 60,000 chips. Zhang turned over {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for two pair while Chidwick showed {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. The river was the {6-Spades} and Zhang's two pair held up to eliminate Chidwick on the first level of Day 2.

Former Champ Qui Nguyen Exits in Brutal Cooler from Lim

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Qui Nguyen
Qui Nguyen

Action began when former WSOP Main Event Champion Qui Nguyen opened to 2,000 in early position and was called by Aaron Ogus to his left. He was then raised to 6,000 by Johnson Lim in late position. Nguyen responded by putting in the four-bet jam for 56,000, which sent Ogus into the tank. After some deliberation, Ogus made the fold (later said was pocket sixes) then Lim snap-called and the cards were tabled with Nguyen at risk.

Qui Nguyen: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Johnson Lim: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Faced with the classic cooler, Nguyen needed a king to stay alive in search of his second Main Event title, but it was quite literally not in the cards as the board ran out {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} to give Lim the victory as Nguyen exited the tournament area.

Set for Sheinin

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

David Williams raised to 1,600 in late position and received a call from David Sheinin in the cutoff and the button, Neal Wasserman. The flop came down {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Williams checked to Sheinin who bet 2,300. Wasserman raised to 10,000 causing Williams to fold but getting a call from Sheinin.

The {2-Diamonds} on the turn had Sheinin checking to Wasserman who pushed all in for around 38,000. Sheinin called and cards were on their backs.

David Sheinin: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Neal Wasserman: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

With a set off the flop for Sheinin, Wasserman was behind but still had outs to hit. Unfortunately for him, the river was a {5-Spades} and since Sheinin had him covered, he was knocked out of the tournament about an hour in to the first level.
