Troya Catches Kuhn

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Adrian Troya raised from the button before Robert Kuhn defended his big blind. The flop came {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Troya continued for 4,000.

Kuhn called to see the {a-Clubs} on the turn. He checked over to Troya who bet 13,000. Kuhn came back with a raise to 40,000 and Troya called.

The turn came the {k-Spades} and Kuhn slowed down and checked. Troya checked behind as Kuhn showed {7-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a missed straight draw. Troya took the pot with {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

The Nuts are Good Enough for Layne

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

2005 WSOP Main Event runner-up Chad Layne raised -preflop from the button and found one caller in the big blind. The two players saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Layne bet 5,000 after his opponent checked. The big blind then check-raised Layne to 15,000, which he called.

On the turn {8-Clubs} the big blind open-shipped his stack of around 50,000 but was snap-called by Layne, putting the big blind at risk.

"You got jack-ten, huh?" the big blind asked as he showed {9-Spades}{4-Spades} for a flopped two pair.

"Yep," Layne replied as he tabled his {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the nut straight with a flush redraw.

The big blind was only drawing to a nine or a four to fill up but the river {a-Spades} did not deliver and he was eliminated as Layne chipped up to 170,000.

Aces for Aylar

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Aylar Lie
Aylar Lie

Preflop action had Davide Suriano raising preflop to 5,000 from middle position. The cutoff called and Aylar Lie in the small blind re-raised to 20,000. Suriano moved all in for around 35,000, the cutoff folded and Lie called.

Aylar Lie: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Davide Suriano: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

It was a classic race of aces versus kings and the former bracelet winner needed some help to come out ahead. The board came down {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts} but unfortunately for Suriano, Lie's aces held up to take down the pot and send him to the rail.

Mahmood Shows He Wasn't Bluffing

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Big stack Ayaz Mahmood was heads-up with an opponent on a board of {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs} when he bet 16,000 from the big blind. His opponent, in middle position, called.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Mahmood sat back and took a sip from his coffee cup before tossing out 38,000. His opponent went into the tank for several minutes before deciding to fold.

"One time," Mahmood said, showing {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} while raking in the pot.
