Salas Loses Blind On Blind Battle

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded around to Damian Salas in the small blind, who opened to 11,000. The big blind called to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Salas checked. His opponent led out for 15,000 but that was not enough to shed the 2020 WSOP Main Event winner, who called.

Salas checked for a second time on the {2-Diamonds} turn and folded after the big blind fired off 25,000. Despite losing that pot, Salas has enjoyed a successful Day 3 thus far after sitting down with just 32,900.

Moneymaker Gets Dicey With Deuces

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker was enjoying a table massage and opened the action with a raise, then called a three-bet to 27,000 by Javier Gomez on the button. On a flop of {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}, Moneymaker check-raised from 22,000 to 58,000 and Gomez stuck around rather quickly.

The {3-Spades} followed on the turn and Moneymaker bet 80,000 for Gomez to call with around 170,000 behind. Both then checked the {9-Spades} on the river when a fourth spade appeared. Moneymaker rolled over the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for a pair of deuces, which Gomez had beat holding the {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

"I was going to fire again if no spade came," the 2003 WSOP Main Event champion mentioned in the table chat.

Conniff Takes Chips from Pantaleo

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

In a three-way pot, the flop showed {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and the big blind checked to Giuseppe Pantaleo who bet 10,000. Asher Conniff called on the button and the big blind let it go.

The turn brought the {q-Clubs} and Pantaleo sent a bet of 33,000. After some thinking, Conniff made the call.

The river revealed the {k-Hearts} and this time they both checked. Pantaleo held {5-Spades}{4-Spades} and the pot was sent to Conniff who showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for top two pair.

Zhang Flops a Set Against Oliver

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action was picked up on the river, with a board of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-} and around 41,000 in the pot.

Peng Zhang, the big blind, fired for 32,000, putting the pressure on Jack Oliver, who finished 3rd in the 2021 Main Event, who has been nursing a relatively small stack for most of Day 3. He eventually made the call, and Zhang showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a set of eights on the flop. Oliver mucked his cards and gave the pot to Zhang, leaving himself with less than 15 big blinds.

Allen Scores Knockout with Queens

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

After a player announced he was all in for 45,000, Kevin Allen decided on just a call, as there was action still behind him. After the last player eventually folded, the hands were tabled.

Opponent: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Kevin Allen: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} which meant Allen's pocket queens held and he chipped up as his opponent was eliminated from the tournament.

Yanovski Chips up With the Superior Kicker

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With two streets of action prior, Mark Eaton and Leonid Yanovski opted to check the {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} river. Eaton tabled the {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a pair of kings but Yanovski had that beat as his {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} contained the superior kicker for the PLO specialist to move up to nearly half a million in chips.

Aces Can't Save Nakamura Against the Cowboys of Moon

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Tamon Nakamura
Tamon Nakamura

Benjamin Moon opened to 9,000 from early position before Tamon Nakamura made it 27,000 in the big blind. Moon paused for a moment before calling.

Nakamura, with around 80,000 behind, continued for 15,000 on the {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-} flop. Moon jammed as the big stack and Nakamura called for his tournament life.

Tamon Nakamura: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Benjamin Moon: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Nakamura looked certain for a double up as his aces remained in front on the {7-Spades} turn. However, the {k-Spades} hit the river to give Moon a full house. As the card hit the table, the players fell silent. Nakamura did a big exhale before collecting his things and leaving the tournament floor.
