Imsirovic Out of the Gates Fast

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Ali Imsirovic
Ali Imsirovic

Ali Imsirovic opened from under the gun to 50,000. Shijia Liu three-bet to 205,000 from the hijack and Imsirovic made the call.

The flop {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} saw Imsirovic check and Liu continue for 80,000. Imsirovic then check-raised to 205,000.

Liu called and the turn {6-Clubs} paired the board. Imsirovic shoved for 1,800,000. Liu had 600,000 behind and was faced with a real decision.

"Sorry guys," he said to the table after about two minutes.

"In thirty seconds I'm calling the clock," said tablemate Michael Stashin. Thirty seconds later, the clock was called. However, Liu did not act on his hand and it eventually was declared dead as time ran out.

Stern Triples, Levy Out

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

There was a three-way all in occurring on Feature Table C with three premium hands being turned face up. Itai Levy was the shortest stack with around 850,000, Elliot Stern was at risk for around 950,000, and Taylor von Kriegenbergh had both players covered.

Itai Levy: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Elliot Stern: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Taylor von Kriegenbergh: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The flop came {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Stern's pocket jacks were still in the lead. The {5-Hearts} on the turn and the {10-Hearts} on the river changed nothing as Stern nearly tripled up and Levy was eliminated.

Clarke Victim of Cooler Early in Day

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Patrick Clarke
Patrick Clarke

On one of the first hands of the day, Patrick Clarke ended up getting his stack in from the small blind and was at risk against Pierce Mckellar in middle position.

Patrick Clarke: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Pierce Mckellar: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Clarke looked to be a victim of the classic aces-versus-kings cooler to begin the day, and the board ran out {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} to eliminate the Day 1c chip leader shortly after he sat down.

Vassallo Makes a Quick Exit on Day 5

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Karim Rebei opened to 55,000 in early position and Giuseppe Vassallo three-bet to 135,000 from a couple of seats over. Nir Levy four-bet shoved all in on the button which got Rebei to lay his hand down. Vassallo didn't snap-call but he stuck the last of his roughly 600,000 chips in the middle.

Giuseppe Vassallo: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Nir Levy: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Levy spiked a two-outer to take the lead. The {9-Spades} on the turn gave Vassallo a straight draw but the {10-Hearts} on the river only improved Levy to a full house.

Aces for Sekli in Opening Hand

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Joshua Mullins opened from under the gun to 55,000. Action folded to Todd Sekli on the button and he made it 165,000. Mullins called.

Mullins check-called for 110,000 on the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop before both players checked on the {10-Diamonds} river. Mullins passed the action to Sekli on the {k-Clubs} river. Sekli sized up to 355,000 and Mullins called after a minute of decision time.

Sekli rolled over his {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and scooped the pot with his ace-high flush.

Welcome Back for Day 5 of Event #70: $10,000 Main Event World Championship

2022 WSOP Main Event Bracelet
2022 WSOP Main Event Bracelet

There will be 380 players returning to their seats for Day 5 of Event #70: $10,000 Main Event No-Limit Hold'em World Championship with plenty of familiar names still in the hunt. The action will resume at 12 p.m. local time inside the Bally's Event Center surrounding the feature tables.

Leading the way after a spectacular run at the end of Day 4 is Taylor von Kriegenbergh (5,305,000) who is starting to make a name for himself as of late. Despite his only seven-figure cash happening way back in 2011, von Kriegenbergh has recently returned to the live felt, dabbling in plenty of high rollers. For years, the American poker pro was solely playing online, including a 23rd-place finish in the 2020 WSOP Domestic Main Event.

He has plenty of company near the top of the leaderboard as Dan Colpoys (4,835,000), Johan Schumacher (4,600,000), and Aaron Mermelstein (4,285,000) are just some of the names following close behind. There are also plenty of women remaining in the field looking to cement their place in history. Loni Hui and Gaelle Baumann may be two of the most recognizable faces but it is Shelby Wells (3,840,000) who earned her spot near the top of the leaderboard.

As mentioned, the cards are scheduled to get in the air at 12 p.m. with the blinds resuming on Level 21 at 10,000/25,000 with a 25,000 big blind ante. There are currently five levels on the schedule for today but that could be extended based on the pace of play. Each player has already locked up $36,000 for their efforts thus far, but the big money pay jumps are just around the corner.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all the updates, so keep it tuned in here to find out who positions themselves to make a deep run.
