Dirksen Gets Much-Needed Pot

Level 9

Dustin Dirksen, runner-up in the $10,000 championship edition of this event last year, was sitting on a short stack as he raised from the big blind after an opponent on the button limped in. The button called as they saw a flop of 26J.

Dirksen continued with a bet and the button called. Both players checked the 7 turn.

The river came the K and Dirksen led out again. The button gave the decision some thought before flinging in a call.

"Two pair," Dirksen announced, turning over A10K2 for kings and deuces as he took in the pot to climb back up near the starting stack.

Neville Makes the Nuts

Level 9

Action folded to the cutoff who came in for a raise and was called by both the button and Brent Neville in the small blind to see a flop of 1093.

Neville checked to the cutoff who tossed in a bet and again received a call from both the button and Neville, leading to a 4 on the turn.

Neville took the lead and put a bet out before seeing the cutoff call and the button fold, prompting the dealer to put the K out on the turn.

Neville lead with a bet again and after some thought, the cutoff player stuck in a call. Neville turned over the AJ92 for the nuts and his opponent quickly sent his cards to the muck.

Level 9

Allen Kessler had folded the previous hand in such a way that drew comment from his tablemates. "I don't believe it. Your first drama fold after 35 years," Ari Engel said.

"You make a drama fold. I'll make a drama call," Engel continued as he called a raise from Mike Garner. Ben Vidal also came along from the big blind.

The flop came 10A10 and Vidal bet out, which only Garner called. Vidal check-called a bet on the 9 turn.

The river came the 7 and Garner continued betting. Vidal called and Garner opened up A10 for the flopped full house. Vidal flashed the 10 before mucking.
