Field Continues To Grow

Level 7

Given this is the first time the WSOP has run an event solely dedicated to Badugi, there was no clear consensus on what entry numbers would look like. After seven levels, however, the field has swelled to 433, larger than other $1,500 WSOP draw game fields such as last year's 2-7 limit triple draw. With late registration open through Level 9, those numbers will only continue to grow with a not inconceivable chance that the tournament tops 500 entries.

Zack Takes a Hit

Level 7

Reigning WSOP player of the year Daniel Zack opened in the cutoff and then called after the small blind three-bet.

Both players took one card on the initial draw before Zack called a bet from his opponent.

The small blind stood pat on the second draw while Zack again drew one card. As before, the small blind bet but Zack was not going anywhere and made the call.

The final draw saw the small blind stand pat and Zack take one last card. The small blind bet and Zack called but mucked after his opponent tabled 632A to take a hit to his stack.

Kessler Getting Short

Level 7

Action folded around to the small blind who limped and Allen Kessler checked his option out of the big blind.

The small blind took one to Kessler's three on the first draw after which Kessler called a bet from his opponent.

The second draw saw the small blind once again take one card while Kessler opted for two. The small blind bet out and Kessler released his hand to slip further down the chip counts.

Gerhart Felted, Buys Back In

Level 6

Kevin Gerhart moved his final T-100 chip into the middle on the button before the small blind limped and the big blind checked his option.

Both blinds took one card while Gerhart asked for two on the initial draw. The small blind then checked before folding after the big blind bet.

On the following two draws the big blind stood pat while Gerhart took one card. After the final draw, Gerhart showed down 843A which was handily beaten by his opponent's 8742 to send the mixed game specialist to the rail.

Shortly after his bustout, Gerhart was seen re-entering the tournament.
