Hunichen Applies Pressure

Level 11 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Chris Hunichen found himself on the button and in a raised preflop pot against Dan Smith, who was to his immediate right in the cutoff, and Stephen Chidwick, who was in the big blind.

The dealer placed 4J9 on the board, which drew checks from Chidwick and Smith. Hunichen bet 80,000, which forced Chidwick out of the hand. Smith called.

The turn saw 7, which Smith checked. Hunichen then kept up the pressure by betting 210,000, which Smith called to bring action to the river, where K appeared.

Smith once again checked, and Hunichen took his time, even using a time bank chip before announcing a 475,000 bet. Smith immediately mucked his hand.

Chamath Palihapitiya

Henrik Hecklen opened to 50,000 from under the gun and Chamath Palihapitiya three-bet jammed a stack of 290,000 from the small blind. Bryn Kenney then called in the big blind with a bigger stack as Hecklen folded.

Chamath Palihapitiya: A10
Bryn Kenney: AA

Palihapitiya was in trouble but came close to cracking aces as the flop landed 4JQ to give him a gutshot to Broadway, but the runout of 68 confirmed the venture capitalist's elimination.

Ivey Puts It All on the Table

Level 11 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Picking up the action on the river with a completed board of 9837Q, Justin Bonomo and Phil Ivey were heads-up in a pot with around 900,000 in the middle. Bonomo checked from the big blind and Ivey shipped all in for 620,000 in the cutoff.

Bonomo asked for a count and then dipped into the tank for over a minute. He eventually made the call and Ivey nodded as he tabled A10 for just ace-high. Bonomo flipped over A8 for just a pair of eights but that was enough to send Ivey to the rail.

Katz Scores Double Up

Level 11 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Masashi Oya raised 50,000 while under the gun, and received calls from Seth Davies, who was in late position and reloaded after an earlier knockout, and Cary Katz, who was in the big blind.

The dealer placed Q74, and the board produced action.

Oya bet 50,000, and Davies raised to 140,000. Action returned to Katz, who check-raised all in for 690,000. Oya quickly got out of the way, but Davies had Katz covered and called.

“I’m on a draw,” Davies said as the cards were tabled.

Cary Katz: AQ
Seth Davies: A5

Katz was ahead but had to dodge the clubs. The K appeared on the turn, and then 2 to give Katz the double up.

Three players were in the hand on the turn with the board reading J10610. Barak Wisbrod checked from the big blind and Brian Rast tossed in a bet of 115,000. Bryn Kenney called in position and Wisbrod stepped aside.

The river was the 3 and Rast announced a bet of 250,000. Kenney thought for a brief moment and then flicked in a call. "Queen-high," Rast announced as he showed Q8. Kenney turned over AK for ace-high and got a brow raise from Rast as he collected the pot.

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Phil Ivey

Ten-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey raised on the cutoff, and then watched Justin Saliba in the small blind three-bet to 145,000, which Ivey called.

The dealer placed QK8 on the board, and Saliba continued with an 80,000 bet. Ivey quickly called.

The turn saw 4 on the board, which both players checked. The dealer then placed A on the river, which prompted Saliba to use a time extension button before checking.

Ivey then announced all in, which received a quick fold from Saliba.

Daniel Negreanu joined the table during the action and quietly watched from his seat, but that changed once the hand concluded.

“Just like the old days,” Negreanu said across the table to his friend. “Phil Ivey raking pots at the World Series of Poker.

Negreanu’s comment got a chuckle and smile out of Ivey.

Kristen Foxen: KJ
Chris Hunichen: AA

Foxen had run into aces but got help from the 4J8 flop and took the lead with the K turn. But sadly for the three-time bracelet winner, the 4 river counterfeited her two pair and she was eliminated.

Kornuth Upends Lin, Ivey Downs Hall

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Chance Kornuth opened to 40,000 in early position and Ren Lin three-bet to 125,000 in the cutoff. Kornuth responded with a four-bet to 220,000 and Lin just called.

The flop came 1092 and Kornuth threw out a bet of 150,000. Lin mulled it over for 30 seconds but decided to throw his cards away. Kornuth flashed KJ which got a staredown from Lin.

"No gamble, no future," Kornuth laughed.

Next door, Galen Hall was eliminated when his AxQx ran into the KxKx of Phil Ivey who has increased his stack since joining the field in the last level.
