Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Jared Stearns raised 3,000 under the gun, and the player to his immediate left three-bet to 8,000, which Stearns called.

The dealer fanned 523, which Stearns checked. His opponent bet 7,000, and then Stearns grabbed his attention with an 18,000 check-raise. His opponent looked at the board, and then put his tournament life at stake by pushing all in, which Stearns snap-called.

“Do you have kings?” Steans’ opponent asked.

He found the answer when the cards were tabled.

Opponent: JJ
Jared Stearns: KK

The dealer ran out 7 on the turn and 3 on the river, giving Stearns the win and sending his opponent to the rail.

Brill's Sabotaging Starting to Come to Fruition

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Veronica Brill bet 3,500 from middle position and was called by the cutoff and big blind.

The flop delivered a paired board of 663 and Brill continued for 6,500. Both the cutoff and big blind folded, and Brill moved into six figures for the first time today.

Earlier in the day Brill revealed to PokerNews her plan was to get her tablemates drunk with tequila. Perhaps the liquor is starting to hit the bloodstream of her fellow competitors.

Shmidt Fold Leads to Baggiani Double

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Tyler Schmidt had opened to 12,500 but then Valentin Oberhauser re-raised to 26,000 to his left. Then Camillo Baggiani decided this still wasn't enough and moved all in for around 65,000 and Schmidt went deep into the tank.

"Ughh, I'm gonna need a minute here boys, this is a tough spot," he groaned as he checked is cards again. "There's no way I can just fold this hand."

He then looked over and saw that Oberhauser had his covered significantly and this made him even more unsure of his decision.

"Ok, I fold," he finally said as he slid the cards into the muck as Oberhauser made the call to put Baggiani at risk.

"I folded two queens, I swear I folded pocket queens," Shmidt admitted as the cards were tabled.

Camillo Baggiani: 1010
Valentin Oberhauser: 66

"ARE YOU SERIOUS!?" Schmidt nearly lost it as the players revealed inferior pairs.

The board ran out A4KK4 for Baggiani's tens to hold for the double-up against Oberhauser.

"It was a tough spot, man, its hard to call with someone behind," Baggiani tried to console Schmidt, who just kept shaking his head and muttering, "Wow, wow, wow".

Gabriel’s Triple Barrels Put Pressure on Opponent

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Thomas Gabriel raised 4,000 in middle position before the flop and was called by the player on the button.

After the blinds folded, the two players went to the flop, which produced 4410. Gabriel bet 4,000, and his opponent called.

The dealer placed 10 on the turn, and Gabriel continued his out-of-position aggression by leading out with 12,000. His opponent once again called.

The river showed 2 and Gabriel took his time. He then took a slow deliberate motion to count out chips before making a 38,000 bet, which grabbed his opponent’s attention. Gabriel was motionless, as his opponent periodically glanced across the table. And after close to a full minute, Gabriel saw his opponent fold.

The 2023 World Series of Poker is soon to enter its fourth week of festivities, and the contest for WSOP Player of the Year is starting to heat up.

Chad Eveslage was the early frontrunner because of his back-to-back bracelet victories. However, Ian Matakis and Shaun Deeb have surpassed the only double bracelet winner of the series, thanks to a recent run of fine results.

Michael Moncek has also shot up from sixth to fourth in the POY standings after he came close to grabbing his second bracelet of the series in the $10,000 Razz Championship.

Jans Arends rounds out the top five following his sun run in some of the high roller bracelet events. The Dutch poker pro finished in third place in the $50,000 High Roller days before taking down the $100,000 High Roller for $2,576,729, the biggest payout of the 2023 WSOP so far.
