The PokerNews team was called over to have a hand relayed after the fact. A player in middle position opened for 400,000 and it folded to Anthony Ibrahim in the small blind, who didn't realize there was an open, and moved all in to steal the blinds. The big blind quickly folded and the initial opener made the call for his stack of 6,000,000 knowing Ibrahim didn't see the raise.
Middle Position: 3♥3♠
Anthony Ibrahim: J♣6♦
Ibrahim was lucky enough to have two over cards to the threes, and when the board ran out 9♣6♥6♠4♣A♠, it was the flopped trips for Ibrahim that rewarded his mistake with the chip lead pot.
Scott Brewis opened to 350,000 from middle position and only the player next to act in the hijack made the call.
The flop came 9♥6♦3♦ and both players checked their options to the 7♠ turn. Brewis fired out 500,000 and his opponent quickly tossed a chip in to make the call.
The A♠ hit the river and Brewis moved all in for close to 1,100,000. The hijack took less than a second to flick his cards into the muck and Brewis took down the pot.
Venkatara Ganne went all in on the button and Eben Lottering made the from the big blind. Ganne doubled earlier with nines and found himself in the same scenario at risk.
Venkatara Ganne: 9♣9♦
Eben Lottering: K♠Q♦
The flop was all bricks for Lottering, as he was unable to catch a king or queen.
In a raising war preflop between the player in the big blind and Chris O'Neil on the button, all the chips hit the middle with O'Neil at risk for his stack of 2,505,000.
Chris O'Neil: A♥A♠
Big Blind: Q♦Q♠
O'Neil had his opponent in rough shape, but when the flop fanned out K♦K♥Q♣, it was the queen that changed fortunes with O'Neil needing an ace to stay alive. The turn brought no help on the 8♣, however, the river fell the money card for O'Neil when the A♣ rolled off to score him a full double up.
