StarCraft Pro Yohwan Lim was in the big blind against a player in early position on a board that read A♣8♣Q♥9♥A♥.
After some deliberation, Lim put out a river bet of 100,000, enough to put his opponent all-in, and his opponent quickly folded.
Action folded to a player in middle position who opened to 1,500. It folded to Allen Kessler in the small blind who flat called and the big blind got out of the way.
The 6♦K♦4♦ flop hit the felt and Kessler check-called a bet of 1,100. The turn brought a 8♠ and action slowed down and checked through. The river brought a Q♥ and Kessler opted to lead for 2,500.
Middle position snap folded. The chainsaw strikes again.
Reiji Kono was involved in a three-way pot. There were around 3,500 chips in the pot and Kono bet 1,100 from under the gun after the big blind checked. The third player quickly got out of the way before the big blind made the call.
The turn 8♦ then was checked through before the river fell the 10♦. The big blind checked once again and Kono bet for a massive 16,000.
The big blind snap folded with a full house on the board and Kono raked in a much-needed pot in the dying hours of Day 1b.
Frederick Hoban raised and Matthew Nowicki three-bet to 3,100. Hoban put in the four-bet all-in for 23,800 and Nowicki snap-called.
Frederick Hoban: A♠K♥
Matthew Nowicki: Q♦Q♣
It was the classic coinflip and the king came in the window as the dealer spread the K♠5♠2♥ flop for Hoban to take the lead. The 7♥ turn and 3♦ river were bricks and Hoban dragged the pot.
The player under the gun raised to 1,200 and was called by Anthony Marquez in the hijack and the player in the big blind.
It was checked to the original raiser on the A♦8♠K♠ flop and he bet 1,600. Only Marquez called.
Both players then checked down on the 9♦ turn and K♣ river and Marquez showed A♠7♠ for aces and kings. His opponent couldn't beat it and mucked — conceding the pot to Marquez.
Julien Martini was heads-up in a pot with around 60,000 in the middle and the board reading 4♣2♥2♣6♠. Martini checked from the small blind and his opponent checked it back in the cutoff.
The river brought the Q♣ and Martini led out with a bet of 35,000. His opponent went into the tank for a couple of minutes before finally folding.
"Show one card?" his opponent asked. Martini responded with a 'zero' hand gesture.
As the end of day approaches, more and more players have begun taking part in the "beer level" where everyone starts drinking in celebration of making it to Day 2.
The cutoff raised 1,500 and the button called before JR Richards three-bet to 6,300 in the small blind. Matthew Nowicki called in the big blind and both the cutoff and button got out of the way.
The dealer fanned a flop of J♣8♣8♥ and Richards continued for 9,500. Nowicki called.
The 10♥ landed on the turn and Richards checked, and Nowicki did the same.
When the K♥ completed the board, Richards paused for a moment and asked, "What you got young man?"
Nowicki stayed quiet with a puzzled look on his face as the action wasn't complete yet. Richards eventually dropped a green chip in the middle for a bet of 25,000 and Nowicki made the call.
Richards tabled A♣Q♦ for running Broadway and Nowicki looked sick as he held onto his cards for a few seconds and stared at the board. Nowicki showed his K♣10♣ before the dealer sent the pot Richards way.
Linda Kenney Baden raised to 1,500 from middle position and called Heidi Heimarck's 6,500 reraise.
The flop fell K♠8♠8♥. Kenney Baden pushed her remaining chips in the middle and while Heimarck was thinking she commented, "I have to get a hand once every six hours."
The speech was enough to convince Heimarck, who folded shortly after.
Meanwhile, on a nearby table, players reported a flopped straight flush for Sebastian Wuthold. Unfortunately for him, his river bet didn't get any takers.
Scott Numoto raised it up from under the gun and the small blind stuck in a three-bet. Numoto called and they went heads-up to a flop with around 10,000 in the middle. The flop came K♣8♥2♠ and the small blind led out with a bet of 6,900. Numoto raised to 15,000 and his opponent jammed all in for 21,900 which Numoto called.
Small Blind: A♦K♠
Scott Numoto: 8♠8♦
Numoto flopped a set of eights and his opponent drawing nearly dead with only top pair. The 10♠ on the turn sealed the deal and the 3♥ on the river was just a formality.
