Johnson Scores a Knockout With the Doyle

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Several players have been knocked out from table 601 and Clay Johnson was just responsible for the next casualty.

With the cards already exposed on a board of 109210K, his 102 in the big blind had turned a full house. His opponent only had Ax9x and was sent to the rail.

Johnson has been one of several hundred late entrants on Day 2 and more than doubled his stack already.

Dwan Drops One, Takes Two More

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Cameras began to surround Tom Dwan's table as he bet 4,800 into a pot of 15,000 on a flop of 93A and George Khoriaty called from under the gun.

The turn came the K and both players checked. The 4 fell on the river and Khoriaty checked again. Dwan then checked back and mucked in frustration as Khoriaty showed A10 for a pair of aces.

The next hand, Dwan bet 13,000 on a board of 3569K and his lone opponent folded. Shortly afterward, the under-the-gun player raised to 2,500 and received a caller before the cutoff reraised to 11,000.

Dwan, in the big blind, then moved all in and the table quickly mucked.

Mizrachi's Jiggities Send One Out

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Mizrachi opened to 2,200 from middle position and just behind him, the player in the hijack shoved for their last 20,600. The player in the cutoff called cold and Mizrachi called as well after a bit of thought.

Mizrachi check-called a 10,000 bet from the cutoff on the K9K flop and then action checked down on the 2 turn and 5 river.

Mizrachi turned over JJ for a pair of jacks, which were best against the cutoff's 1010 and the all-in player, who mucked — sending the pot Mizrachi's way.

Ivey Spends Some Time in the Tank

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey and Istvan Birizdo had arrived on the river in a pot of 14,000 chips. The completed board read 58492 and Ivey checked out of the big blind.

Birizdo was in early position and put out a small overbet of 14,000. This led Ivey to think about the situation for several minutes. Eventually, he put in calling chips. Birizdo showed 1010 and his overpair was good for the win as Ivey slid his cards face down towards the dealer.

Sham Takes on Two

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The pot stood at 13,800 with three players remaining in the hand.

On a board of J82610, the big blind checked the action to the player in middle position who bet out for 6,500, to which Philemon Sham in the cutoff raised to 21,500.

Action back on the big blind, they thought for some time before finally deciding to fold, as did the player in middle position.

"Phew!" Sham comically exhaled as he scooped in the pot.

Nicholsen's Ace is Good

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Three players saw a flop of AJ8, creating a pot of about 8,000 and all three players checked to see the J on the turn.

John Cynn led out for 3,500 and Wayne Nicholsen called next to act before the third player in the hand got out of the way.

When the 9 landed on the river, both players knuckled the table. Cynn almost exposed his cards but Nicholsen tabled the A4, and Cynn dropped his cards face down as the dealer scooped them.

Mincher Leads the River

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Brandon Mincher, Robert Gegen, and a late registrant were three-way to a flop of A6A. Mincher and Gegen checked from the blinds before the player on the button bet out 1,400. Mincher made the call and Gegen folded. The 3 turn then saw another check-call by Mincher, this time for the amount of 3,000.

The 9 river brought a third spade on the board, and this time Mincher chose to lead out instead of check. The bet was 4,000 chips and Mincher's opponent took a moment to think it over. Ultimately, he put in the call but would muck his cards when Mincher showed A10 for trip aces.

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Quinn Do
Quinn Do

Action was picked up on the river with players three-handed and the board reading 487J5. With about 23,000 in the middle Pamela Balzano had moved all in for approximately 24,500. One of her opponents in middle position folded after a couple minutes and Quinn Do quickly made the call after from the button.

Balzano tabled K10 for a missed flush draw turned into a bluff while Do had 55 for a rivered set of fives to take the pot, sending Balzano to the rail in the process.
