The $25K Fantasy league is off to a hot start with seven of the 19 teams over 100 points as of Tuesday night. Most of those were thanks to a handful of draftees hitting field bonuses in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, which attracted 18,409 entrants and became the sixth-largest poker tournament of all time.
Among those to hit the field bonus were Josh Reichard (21st place – 101 points), Adam Hendrix (32nd place – 101 points), Dong Chen (59th place – 101 points), John Riordan (88th place – 101 points), Chris Vitch (113th place – 101 points), Christian Harder (155th place – 101 points), and Ash Gupta (161st place – 101 points).
As of this writing, Team Oz (Gary Benson) is out on top with 245 points, while Team Sternheimer (Philip Sternheimer) sits in second with 199 points. From there it’s Team The Dinkers (179 points), Team Lady Gaga (168 points), Team Girl Dads (144 points), Team Wilson (118 points), and Team TheCoffeeBreakers (107 points) as the seven teams with 100+ points.
PokerNews has been tracking $25K Fantasy players in our live updates, and has even made it simple to follow the action by tagging all players with a $25K Fantasy badge. That allows you to utilize our chip count filter option to follow only those players (just tick the $25K Fantasy badge); what’s more, each blog will have a “$25K Fantasy” tab that if you click all you will see are hands played by $25K Fantasy players.
As a result, we can capture some of the biggest, best, and most game-changing hands involving the $25K Fantasy roster. Here are five from the first week of action in the 2024 WSOP.
Players are on their third 15-minute break of Day 1. They will return in Level 7 with blinds at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 ante.
Action picked up on the flop 8♦J♥9♠ between Adrian State in the small blind and Ethan "Rampage" Yau in late position when both players checked.
The turn came the 5♠ and State checked to Yau who fired for 3,000. State then check-raised to 14,000, sending Yau into the tank before calling.
The river 7♣ saw State lead for 28,000 and Yau folded.

Action picked up on the river with four-time WSOP bracelet winner Adrian Mateos involved in a hand with a player to his immediate left.
The board showed 4♠7♠10♣2♥Q♠, and Mateos was first to act.
Mateos, though, took his time. He studied the board, glancing a few times at his opponent, before making a 40,000 bet, which would put his opponent at risk.
Mateos’ opponent went in the tank and appeared uneasy in his seat, adjusting himself to sit up. After a few moments of deliberation, Mateos' opponent tossed out a chip to call.
Mateos immediately tabled A♠6♠ for the nut flush, prompting his opponent to muck his cards face down before getting up to leave the table.

A player in middle position opened to 2,000 and Aliaksandr Shylko called from the small blind. Chander Jain also called from the big blind.
The flop came out 8♥4♦3♥ and action checked to the preflop aggressor who continued for 3,400 and Shylko called. Jain then raised all-in for 38,800 total. The middle position player got out of the way and Shylko snap called.
Chander Jain: 4♣3♦
Aliaksandr Shylko: J♥Jx
The turn fell 6♥ and the river 2♦ changed nothing, so Jain's two pair beat Shylko's jacks.

In a surprise to nobody, Bin Weng has been having a strong Day 1 so far with one of the biggest stacks in the room and he was captured in action on a flop of 9♥7♥7♦.
From under the gun, Weng bet 2,000. His big blind opponent raised to 5,000. Weng fired back with a three-bet to 12,600. That gave pause to his opponent who thought better of tussling any further and folded to give Weng a few more chips to his growing stack.
