The $25K Fantasy league is off to a hot start with seven of the 19 teams over 100 points as of Tuesday night. Most of those were thanks to a handful of draftees hitting field bonuses in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, which attracted 18,409 entrants and became the sixth-largest poker tournament of all time.
Among those to hit the field bonus were Josh Reichard (21st place – 101 points), Adam Hendrix (32nd place – 101 points), Dong Chen (59th place – 101 points), John Riordan (88th place – 101 points), Chris Vitch (113th place – 101 points), Christian Harder (155th place – 101 points), and Ash Gupta (161st place – 101 points).
As of this writing, Team Oz (Gary Benson) is out on top with 245 points, while Team Sternheimer (Philip Sternheimer) sits in second with 199 points. From there it’s Team The Dinkers (179 points), Team Lady Gaga (168 points), Team Girl Dads (144 points), Team Wilson (118 points), and Team TheCoffeeBreakers (107 points) as the seven teams with 100+ points.
PokerNews has been tracking $25K Fantasy players in our live updates, and has even made it simple to follow the action by tagging all players with a $25K Fantasy badge. That allows you to utilize our chip count filter option to follow only those players (just tick the $25K Fantasy badge); what’s more, each blog will have a “$25K Fantasy” tab that if you click all you will see are hands played by $25K Fantasy players.
As a result, we can capture some of the biggest, best, and most game-changing hands involving the $25K Fantasy roster. Here are five from the first week of action in the 2024 WSOP.

The flop displayed 5♣10♦6♥. Frank Lagodich bet 3,000 and was raised up to 10,000 from his big blind opponent which he called.
The turn came the 3♠ and both players checked to the 8♣ river which was also checked down.
Lagodich watched as his opponent tabled the Jx5x for a pair of fives but Lagodich had that pipped with the 7♠6♠ pair of sixes.

Chander Jain probably wasn’t expecting a lot of action when he raised 2,700 in early position.
But that’s exactly what he got when he received calls from three players, including Blair Hinkle to his immediate left and Jonathan Little in the small blind.
The dealer fanned 5♥10♥9♠ on the flop, and the checking began with Little, followed by a player in the big blind, Jain and Hinkle.
The J♠ appeared on the turn, prompting Little and the player in the big blind to check. When it was his turn to act, Jain took his time and looked at the board. He then reached into his stack to count out 7,500 before placing it as his bet, which saw folds from Hinkle and Little. The player in the big blind, though, called.
The dealer then placed 2♦ on the river, which the player in the big blind checked. Jain once again was deliberate with his action, looking down at his stack before counting out a little more than 20,000. He then moved the chips forward as his bet, and his remaining opponent immediately folded.
“Nuts!” Jain exclaimed as he attempted to table his hand face up.
The K♠ showed, but the other card remained down.
“It was a queen; you saw it,” Jain said to Hinkle, who nodded.
With K♠Qx, Jain had the nut straight.

Action came in on the turn as the board read 9♣7♣J♥Q♠. Shaun Deeb moved all in for about 22,000 and was instantly called by Omar Saeed.
Shaun Deeb: 9♦7♦
Omar Saeed: K♥10♣
Deeb started to roll up his cards as he saw the bad news that Saeed had made the straight to better his two pair. The river would not fill him up as the 2♣ came off to bust Deeb as he stood up to leave.

Action was picked up on a flop of 4♥6♣2♠ when Ethan "Rampage" Yau bet from the button and was called by both the big blind and a late position player.
The turn K♥ saw the big blind check and late position player lead for 5,500. Yau quickly called and the big blind folded.
The river fell K♦ and the late position player slowed down by checking. Yau went deep into the tank before assembling a massive wager of 50,000, covering his opponent's remaining chip stack. After careful consideration, late position laid down his cards.

JC Tran was a late Day 1 arrival and found himself as a short stack in the field.
The two-time WSOP bracklet winner, however, found a spot to add chips when he raised 2,000 in early position. Action folded to the two players in the small and big blinds call, and they both called.
The dealer placed 10♣7♥K♥ on the board, and the players in the blinds checked. Tran then made a 2,500 bet, which saw the small blind call and the big blind fold.
The A♦ appeared on the turn, which saw the player in the small blind once again check. Tran used the opportunity to bet 5,000, which forced out his opponent.
