The $25K Fantasy league is off to a hot start with seven of the 19 teams over 100 points as of June 4. Most of those were thanks to a handful of draftees hitting field bonuses in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, which attracted 18,409 entrants and became the sixth-largest poker tournament of all time.
PokerNews has been tracking $25K Fantasy players in our live updates, and has even made it simple to follow the action by tagging all players with a $25K Fantasy badge. That allows you to utilize our chip count filter option to follow only those players (just tick the $25K Fantasy badge); what’s more, each blog will have a “$25K Fantasy” tab that if you click all you will see are hands played by $25K Fantasy players.
As a result, we can capture some of the biggest, best, and most game-changing hands involving the $25K Fantasy roster. Here are five from the first week of action in the 2024 WSOP.
Kris Lord was in the small blind and drew one, while two opponents each drew three. Lord then led out with a bet and both players called.
Lord stood pat, a player in early position took one, while Sung Wang in the cutoff took two. Lord then bet again and only the early-position player called.
Lord patted again, while his opponent drew one. Both players checked and Lord showed 8-7-5-4-3.
"Whoa, you checked that?" Wang said.
"Especially at this table. Everyone is showing wheels," Lord said as he took the pot.
Dan Idema raised from middle position and David "Bakes" Baker re-raised from the cutoff. Idema made the call and the two players both drew one and checked.
On the next street both players again drew one card and again checked. On the final street Idema stood pat and Baker drew one. Idema bet and Baker folded.
Peter Neff was both in the cutoff and the only player to call a late position raise. The late position player drew two and Neff drew one. Neff bet and was called by his opponent.
On the next street Neff stood pat and his opponent drew two and checked before folding to Neff's bet.
