After an open by a player in middle position, Clément Meunier in the hijack three-bet shoved for 2,160,000. Samuel Bifarella, in the big blind, was the only one to call.
Clément Meunier: 10♦10♠
Samuel Bifarella: A♦A♥
Meunier was lucky enough to hit a straight on 8♠6♦9♦7♦Q♠ to secure a double-up.
Caleb Bloomer moved all in for 1,775,000, in late position and was called by Jeremy Maher, in the cutoff, who had Bloomer covered.
Jose Aguilera then moved all in from the small blind for about 2,100,000 total, putting himself at risk, and Maher called, looking for a double knockout.
Caleb Bloomer: K♥J♠
Jose Aguilera: A♠Q♣
Jeremy Maher: A♣K♠
Although behind, Bloomer managed to find a jack on the 7♠J♣9♣ flop, pulling ahead in the hand. The 6♠ turn and 9♠ river secured him the triple up. Maher was awarded the side pot, and Aguilera was sent to the rail.
Three-time WSOP bracelet winner Timur Margolin raised in early position to 400,000 and received a call from the player in the big blind.
The dealer fanned 4♦2♣10♣, and the player in the big blind checked. Margolin fired 300,000 and his opponent called.
The J♥ appeared on the turn, and Margolin watched as the player in the big blind checked again. Margolin responded by making a 975,000 bet, which his opponent called.
The 6♣ appeared on the river, and the player in the big blind checked. Margolin sized up to a 2,350,000 bet, which perplexed his opponent.
The player in the big blind went a bit in the tank, shrugging his shoulders while counting out chips. He asked the dealer to confirm the size of Margolin’s bet before eventually making the call.
Margolin tabled K♣J♠ for a pair of jacks.
“You win,” the player in the big blind said as he folded his hand face down.
Martin Kabrhel opened to 400,000 from middle position, but John Duthie, to his left, three-bet to 1,200,000. 'Johnny, you want to bust or not? I know why you raise because you know I don't want you to bust before the final table,' Kabrhel said.
He eventually made the call, then 'checked blind' on a flop of 2♥K♥9♦. Duthie continued for 2,200,000, and Kabrhel quickly folded.
'I had sevens, what did you have?' Kabrhel asked. 'I have a pocket pair as well,' Duthie said, without going into more detail.
Action picked up after Chaoui three-bet a player in early position, but then faced a large four-bet from Maher, whose action would put Chaoui all in with a call.
The original raiser folded, brining action to Chaoui, who appeared uneasy with Maher’s re-raise. Chaoui eventually called to put himself at risk and immediately saw he was behind.
Mehdi Chaoui: Q♠Q♦
Jeremy Maher: K♥K♣
The dealer placed 2♠6♠3♥ on the flop, leaving Maher in the lead. The A♠ showed up on the turn, giving Chaoui more outs to a flush. But 10♥ on the river sealed the hand for Maher and eliminated Chaoui from the tournament.
