Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Cecile Ticherfatine raised from an early position to 16,000 and Gloria Vasquez called from the small blind.

The players saw a Q♠6♦A♣ flop and Vasquez bet out for 20,000. Ticherfatine called and the players went to the turn.

The dealer placed the K♦ and Vasquez raised to 35,000. Ticherfatine three-bet to 90,000 which sent Vasquez into the tank. After around two minutes Vasquez mucked her cards and the dealer shuffled the deck.

In the next hand Karen Goncalves raised from a middle position and Vasquez, now on the button, made the call, along with the big blind.

The flop brought 7♣Q♥9♣ and Goncalves raised to 26,000. Vasquez called and the big blind folded.

The 9♠ turn prompted Goncalves to check. Vasquez raised to 35,000 and Goncalves gave up the hand and mucked her cards.

Vasquez won some chips back and sat with a just under average stack after the hands.

Li Yan started the action with a raise to 16,000 from early position. Nancy Nguyen then three-bet to 42,000, which Yan called.

On the 5♦Q♣4♣ flop, Yan promptly went all in and Nguyen called.

The board didn't improve for Yan, and Nguyen doubled up, leaving Yan with 24,000 behind.

In the very next hand, Yan found herself in the big blind. Nadya Magnus raised to 16,000 from early position, Yan called, and then immediately went all in as soon as the dealer revealed the 4♠5♦K♠ flop. Magnus called, and it went to showdown.

Lucia Antunes moved all in from the hijack and chess queen Jennifer Shahade also moved all in from the cutoff, the chip stacks were fairly close.

The board played out with 9♠J♣5♦8♦2♥ and Shahade's ace high with the best kicker won and left Antunes in rough shape with only 9,000 chips.

On the next hand Antunes moved in for her last 9,000 in early position and Katie Stone three-bet to 40,000 to isolate Antunes and everyone else folded.

Janet Kanstrup raised pre-flop and got a single call from Shiina Okamoto in the big blind.

Players saw a 3♦Q♥3♣ flop and Okamoto bet 25,000 with Kanstrup making the call.

The 9♠ was turned and Okamoto checked to Kanstrup, who raised to 75,000. Okamoto made the call and went to the river.

The dealer brought the 6♣ river and Okamoto checked. Kanstrup raised to 100,000 and Okamoto called and showed A♣9♣. Kanstrup flipped over A♦5♦ for ace high and Okamoto won the pot with a pair of nines.

Okamoto left the hand with over two million chips, and is currently chip leading with 58 players remaining.

Tamao Kobayashi raised to 20,000 from under the gun and action folded to Melanie Kaye who shoved for 103,000 from the button. Kobayashi called and the players flipped thier cards.

Kaye was ahead with the bigger pocket pair and the J♦6♥10♦ flop also came her way, giving her the set.

The 2♠ turn and Q♠ river sealed the double for Kaye and left Kobayashi with a short stack after the hand.

In the next hand on the same table, Melanie Kaye raised from the cutoff to 20,000 and got two calls from the blinds, Janet Kanstrup and Kami Hudson.

Three players saw the 9♥2♣6♥ flop. Kanstrup checked and so did Hudson, but Kaye raised to 35,000. Kanstrup called and Hudson folded, taking the players heads-up to the turn.

The 3♦ was turned and Kanstrup checked. Kaye raised to 75,000 and Kanstrup called.

The players checked down the A♣ river and showed their hands. Kaye won the pot with 10♣10♥ and Kanstrup showed K♥J♥.
