Alvaro Vasquez only brought 6,900 chips to Day 2, and he put them all in from the small blind. Richard Wight made the call in the big blind and the cards were tabled.
Alvaro Vasquez: A♥8♣
Richard Wight: A♦J♠
The 4♣A♣10♦Q♠9♠ board made both players top pair, but Wight's kicker remained in play to eliminate Vasquez.
"Well, that was fun," Vasquez noted as he headed to the exit.
Joe Tehan raised to 2,000 in middle position and Viorel Tonef called on the button. Christoffer Janlow then moved all in for 19,500 in the small blind and both Tehan and Tonef called.
"Let's just open it up," Tehan joked with Tonef heading to the flop.
"Check it down. Gentleman's agreement," another tablemate added. Tehan and Tonef did check down the 6♥J♥4♥10♣A♥ board and Tehan showed K♠Q♠ for a straight.
Tonef mucked 7♣7♠, while Janlow tossed A♦J♦ into the muck before making an early Day 2 exit.
Sam Johnson, Robert Burlacu, and Todd Phillips were three-ways to a turn of 6♣5♦6♦7♠. Johnson and Phillips had checked from the small blind and early position respectively before Burlacu made a bet of 13,500 into the pot of 23,000.
Johnson then jammed all in, covering the other two players. Phillips quickly folded but Burlacu tanked for 30 seconds or so before committing his stack.
Robert Burlacu: K♠K♦
Sam Johnson: 7♣5♠
Burlacu had the higher two pair with his kings and sixes, but the 5♥ river gave Johnson a full house to eliminate his opponent.
Hugh Cullen opened to 1,600 from the cutoff and Bruno Lopes defended in the big blind.
Lopes check-called a 1,500 continuation following the 2♠4♣3♥ flop.
The 9♣ turn saw Lopes check again before raising to 15,000 after Cullen bet 4,500. Cullen moved all in and Lopes quickly called with the covering stack to put his opponent at risk.
Hugh Cullen: Q♥Q♣
Bruno Lopes: 9♥2♥
Lopes had turned two pair to leave Cullen on the ropes. The 5♣ river kept Lopes ahead to confirm Cullen's exit early on Day 2.
With about 18,500 in the middle the flop read Q♣6♦5♠, and Robert Hankins led for 14,000. Sejin Park was on the button and made the call.
The 5♥ fell on the turn and Hankins continued for 9,400. Park stuck around with a call.
When the 10♣ landed on the river, Hankins bet 23,100 and Park went into the tank for about 45 seconds before announcing an all-in for about 35,000. Hankins snap called and Park rolled over K♥K♣ before seeing the bad news as Hankins tabled Q♠Q♥ for a flopped set.
Heads-up to the K♣5♦4♠ flop, Loic Debregeas bet 7,000 and was called by Garrett Demaline from the next seat. The French player then bet the 5♠ turn for 15,000 and Demaline folded.
As the hand played out, Kurtis Tinfow went over to the nearby rail to mention a hand he played in which A♠Q♠ turned the nuts to score a knockout. His table no longer includes Matthew Dawson, who has become an early casualty on Day 2abc.
Action was picked up on the river with 48,500 in the pot and the board showing J♦7♣J♥4♦J♠.
Nirssan Sivalingam was facing an all-in bet of 46,200 from David Cover which would put Sivalingam all in for less.
After contemplating his decision, Sivalingam did make the call to put his tournament life at risk. Cover tabled A♥A♦ for a full house, jacks full of aces. Sivalingam revealed he had QxQx before tossing his cards into the muck and exiting the tournament area.
Vlad Darie raised to 1,800 from early position. he was called by Naoya Kihara on the button, the player in the small blind, and Carol Harmon out of the big blind.
The small blind checked, and Harmon led out for 1,600 on the 4♦2♦5♠ flop. Darie called before Kihara raised to 5,200. The small blind folded, but Harmon raised to 15,000. Darie got out the way, and Kihara called.
The turn came the 3♦. Harmon bet 25,000 with roughly 30,000 chips behind. Kihara raised to put Harmon all in and she snap called.
Carol Harmon: A♦J♦
Naoya Kihara: 8♦6♦
The 3♥ on the river didn't give Kihara the straight flush he needed to win, meaning Harmon doubled up with the ace-high flush.
Action was picked up with Khari Hutchings in the small blind all in for 30,900 and David Bowen from under the gun position debating his decision. Bowen eventually flicked in a chip to call, putting Bowen at risk.
Khari Hutchings: Q♠Q♦
David Bowen: A♦9♦
Hutchings was in a great position with his pocket queens, until the board ran out A♣A♥3♠4♣6♣ to improve Bowen to trip aces and eliminate Hutchings from the tournament.
