2024 World Series of Poker
Ariel Silveira opened to 5,000 from early position and Andrew Lichtenberger defended his big blind.
Both players checked on the Q♥7♣8♥ flop and 2♦ turn, but then Lichtenberger led out for 4,500 after the 7♠ completed the board.
Silveira decided to look Lichtenberger up and he showed 5♠5♣. Silveira couldn't beat it and sent his hand into the muck.
Phil Ivey opened the action with a raise to 5,000 from the cutoff. Frode Willumsen called on the button and the big blind defended.
Ivey continued for 15,000 on 8♦9♥2♣ and only Willumsen called.
The turn K♣ rolled off and Ivey fired out 40,000. Willumsen made the call once again.
The river A♦ hit the felt and Ivey threw out 100,000. Willumsen took a second but eventually flicked in a chip for a call. Ivey tabled 7♣6♣ for the bluff and Willumsen turned over 9♣8♥ for the winner.
The start of day chip leader, Anthony Marsico has only added to his stack in the first hour of play on Day 3 as he is the first player to cross the seven figure mark in chips.
He has started the day well by winning multiple medium sized pots in the very corner of Paris black at table #1.
Todd Brunson was involved in a three-way pot on a flop of 6♠5♥3♥. The player in the hijack checked to Brunson in the cutoff, who made a bet of 12,500. The button then folded before the hijack called.
Brunson sized up to 24,000 on the 2♥ turn, seeing his opponent check-fold this time.
Ludovic Uzan opened to 5,000 from under the gun and then called after Min Ji three-bet to 16,000 from middle position.
Uzan checked following the 4♦8♦5♣ flop. Ji continued for 22,000 and received a call from Uzan.
The turn came 3♣, prompting Uzan to check once more. Ji was in no mood to slow down, instead pushing a chunky 48,000 into the middle. Uzan thought for some time before electing to release his hand to send a sizable pot over to his opponent.
There were over 100,000 chips in the pot on a board of J♦A♣Q♣A♦ when both Bryan Allen & Nicholas Olszewski checked.
The river brought a 2♠ and Allen fired a big bet of 115,500. After some time contemplating, Olszewski announced a call.
Allen tabled A♥Q♥ for the nuts, and Olszweski mucked.
The player under the gun had gone all in for just 6,500 chips and was looked up by Daniel Negreanu on the button.
Under the gun: A♦4♦
Daniel Negreanu: A♠J♣
Negreanu was rooting for a chop on the 6♣6♥K♦ board and was elated when his opponent paired up on the 4♠ turn.
The J♥ then came on the river. "Oh shit," said Negreanu as he raked in the pot and eliminated his opponent.
After the hand, Negreanu and the knocked-out player took a picture together, with the latter leaving in seemingly good spirits.
Mark Taylor opened the action with a raise to 5,000 from early position before Justin Shelton three-bet to 16,000 on the button. Taylor wanted to play for more and bumped it up to 40,000 but was disgusted to see Shelton move all in for 146,500.
After a short tank, Taylor decided against in and mucked his cards, saving himself nearly 100,000 chips.
