Warnicke's Main Event Dream Flushed Away by Garcia

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Adrian Garcia Galipienso
Adrian Garcia Galipienso

Adrian Garcia opened from middle position to 20,000 and David Yokoyama called from the hijack. Richard Warnicke then three-bet the minimum to 30,000, which both Garcia & Warnicke called.

All three players saw a flop of 685 which Warnicke checked, Garcia bet 30,000, Yokoyama folded, and Warnicke raised to 80,000. After thinking for a while, Garcia called.

On the 8 turn, Warnicke led out for 150,000, and Garcia called.

A 9 landed on the river and after around thirty seconds, Warnicke shoved for around 250,000. Garcia took just two seconds before he flicked in a call, which put Warnicke at risk.

Warnicke confidently tabled 74 for a flopped straight that backdoored a flush, but Garcia had A5 for a bigger flush, which ended Warnicke's run in the Main Event.

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Yiannis Liperis
Yiannis Liperis

Arriving on a turn of A310K, Preben Stokkan in the small blind checked to Yiannis Liperis in the cutoff. Liperis bet 20,000 chips before Stokkan moved all in.

Liperis made the call to put Stokkan at risk, and the cards were tabled.

Preben Stokkan: A3 All in
Yiannis Liperis: KQ

Stokkan's two pair had a monster lead over Liperis' pair and gutshot. However, the J river gave Liperis Broadway to eliminate Stokkan from the Main Event.

On another table, Day 1a chipleader Joshua Feiger was eliminated after he ran his final few blinds into pocket aces and could not win.

Vincent Procopio was under the gun and got his last 178,000 in the middle against an opponent in early position.

Vincent Procopio: AA
Opponent: KK

Procopio was far ahead with aces against kings and held up through the 78QQJ board to earn a double up, leaving his opponent with just one chip behind.

At the same time at another table, Max Kingstone got his last 150,000 in with AQ but Mathias Pedersen had AK. Both players paired their ace on the flop, but Kingstone improved no further and Pedersen took the pot to send him to the rail.
