Wester Takes Chunk from Orellana

Level 39 : Blinds 800,000/1,600,000, 1,600,000 ante
Jason Wester
Jason Wester

Axel Orellana raised to 2,300,000 in early position, and then things quickly escalated.

Robert Szumowski flatted Orellana’s raise, and action went to Jason Wester, who three-bet to 6,000,000.

The rest of the players folded, putting the next move on Orellana.

Orellana looked across the table and eyed Wester’s chip stack, even asking Wester how much he had. Wester moved his arms aside and estimated a little more than 22,000,000.

Orellana then four-bet all in, a move that got Szumowski to immediately fold.

Wester went deep in the tank, peeking at his cards multiple times and staring across the table at Orellana, who barely moved except to breath.

After more than a minute elapsed, Wester made the call to put himself at risk.

Jason Wester: QQ All in
Axel Orellana: KK

Wester was behind and needed help, which he immediately received when the dealer fanned Q89 on the flop to give Wester top set.

The 10 on the turn kept Wester in the lead and A gave him the win and a massive double up.

Axel Orellana Eliminated in 16th Place ($17,040)

Level 39 : Blinds 800,000/1,600,000, 1,600,000 ante
Axel Orellana

A few hands after getting his chip stack decimated, Axel Orellana moved all in for his remaining chips.

Robert Szumowski, who was to Orellana’s immediate left, moved all in and covered Orellana.

The rest of the players folded and the cards were tabled.

Axel Orellana: J10 All in
Robert Szumowski: AQ

The dealer fanned 4KK on the flop, keeping Szumowski in the lead but giving Orellana a flush draw.

The 2 on the turn and 8 on the river, however, ended Orellana’s deep run in the tournament.

Szumowski Chips Up Some More

Level 39 : Blinds 800,000/1,600,000, 1,600,000 ante

Action started with an open from Ha Duong on the cutoff, which was called by Arnold Park in the small blind and Robert Szumowski in the big blind.

The flop of Q38 got checked around.

The [5h[ came on the turn and Park checked again. Szumowski announced a bet of 8,000 but put in 8,000,000 chips. Because his announced bet was 8,000, he was forced to only min bet for 1,600,000. After the bet size was sorted out, both Duong and Park called.

The river was the 9. Park checked and, this time, avoiding all confusion, Szumowski went all in. Both players folded and Szumowski showed Q8 for top-two on the flop.

Daniel Rezaei Eliminated in 15th Place ($17,040)

Level 39 : Blinds 800,000/1,600,000, 1,600,000 ante
Daniel Rezaei

Lawrence Barber was on the button and raised to 3,200,000 and Juan Garibaldi called from the small blind and Daniel Rezaei called from the big blind. The flop came out with 375 and Garibaldi checked and Rezaei bet out 5,900,000 leaving just one chip behind worth 500,000. Barber called and Garibaldi folded.

On the turn A both players checked.

Then the river brought the 6 which was gold for Barber. Rezaei checked and Barber put in the 500,000 to put Rezaei all in and he called.

Daniel Rezaei: 85 All in
Lawrence Barber: 98

Rezaei held a pair of fives but Barber hit the straight on the river for the win and the knockout.

The players at the table commented, "What a river".

Duong Doubles Up Through Szumowski

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Ha Duong min-raised from middle position and Robert Szumowski on the button was the only caller.

The flop came 58K, Duong checked and Szumowski bet 5,000,000. Duong raised all in for 16,500,000 total. Szumowski took a moment and then threw in the calling chip.

Ha Duong: A8All in
Robert Szumowski: A3

Duong was ahead with middle pair, but Szumowski had many outs with a flush draw. However, Duong was able to dodge all of them on the 7 turn and 7 river and his two pair was good for a big double-up.

Szumowski lost a bit over a third of his chips, but remained in good spirits, commenting that his play was a gamble but one that ‘was fun’.

Bello Stays Alive

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante
Albyn Bello
Albyn Bello

Action folded to Albyn Bello who took some time, but moved effectively all in leaving only 500,000 behind, from the cutoff for around 4,500,000. Bello got a call from Juan Garibaldi in the big blind and the players went heads-up to the 3KQ flop.

Garibaldi raised to 500,000 putting Bello all in, and Bello tanked. He glanced at the other table a number of times to see if there were any chances of securing the pay jump, but eventually made the call.

Albyn Bello: KJAll in
Juan Garibaldi: Qx4x

The dealer turned the 8 and placed the A to complete the board, and Bello got the needed double to stay alive with a pair of kings.
