Action folded to Justin Saliba in middle position, who open shoved his 54,000 remaining chips. Kristen Foxen was the only player to look him up, as she reshoved from the button.

Saliba didn’t manage to suck out, and the 3Q8A6 community cards sent him to the rail.

Ace from Space Saves Sued

Kharlin Sued

In a heads-up pot on a board of 92JJ, Julian Pineda Lozano moved all in and Kharlin Sued went deep into the tank as he considered calling off for his remaining 98,000.

Someone eventually called the clock and Sued put in a call.

Julian Pineda Lozano: KK

Sued had just ace-high and was drawing to three outs with one card to come. He got it as the dealer put down the A river to put a tough beat on Lozano for a double.

Lichtenberger Takes Over Title of Chip Leader

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

The pot preflop had reached a mighty 165,000, and the dealer put out a low board, consisting of 725.

Both Qiang Xu and Andrew Lichtenberger liked their hands, as Lichtenberger first to act bet 40,000, and Xu raised to 110,000. Undeterred, Lichtenberger put Xu all in for 260,000 effective.

Xu was clearly unhappy with the spot he was in, and took a long time to come to his decision. Eventually, he tabled QQ face up, awarding the pot to Lichtenberger, who stormed into the chip lead.

Ivey Still Waiting for First Cash of 2025

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

When action folded to Phil Ivey on the button, he raised his option to 11,000. However, he faced instant resistance, as Dong Chen made it 40,000 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way, and Ivey made the smooth call.
The draw heavy flop of 1086 elicited a continuation-bet of 30,000 from Chen. Ivey shoved for 92,000 and Chen didn’t hesitate in getting his chips in, and as the cards were tabled it seemed as if the dealer had orchestrated this hand to be played out in this exact way.

Phil Ivey AQ All in
Dong Chen A10

Ivey would need to hit his nut flush draw, or a pair of queens if he was going to survive in the tournament, however he received no help as the board ran out J4 and his search for a cash in this World Series would last yet another day.

Cardinal Campbell Picks up a Nice Pot Before Bagging

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With only three hands left to play in Day 1, NFL star Calais Campbell checked to Frank Lagodich on a fully diamond board of 3A9Q before calling his bet of 36,000 into a pot of 45,000.

The dealer paired the board on the 3 river, and action went check-check. Despite being the last aggressor, Lagodich was reluctant to show his cards, letting Campbell know he was best, and he showed J10 for the second nut flush, before scooping in the pot, allowing his stack to grow to over four starting stacks as he headed into the final two hands before bagging up.
