No Gamble, No Future

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Ren Lin
Ren Lin

The hand was joined with a full board already showing 4KQ76 and about 20,000 in the pot. Zachary Grech had 23,500 out in front of him as a bet, but was facing a check-raise for his whole stack from Ren Lin, who had announced all-in from the big blind.

Grech took some time before folding. Lin then proudly exposed the 5. "No gamble, no future", said Lin, as he added to the chips to his stack.

Lewis Doubles in Penultimate Level

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

An early position raise to 3,500 was met with a shove from Toby Lewis in the cutoff for 23,000. Xiaohu Liu took a little time to think in the small blind before calling the all in. The initial raiser then folded.

Toby Lewis: AK All in
Xiaohu Liu: AQ

The board ran out: 96248 to give Lewis slightly more than a double up.

Grujic's Stack Going in the Wrong Direction

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Marko Grujic
Marko Grujic

Marko Grujic once had a very healthy stack in the tournament but just saw his chip balance tumble some more after a hand with Shiva Dudani.

The action was picked up on a flop of 36Q with around 35,000 in the middle and Dudani fired out 11,000 from the big blind. Grujic called from the hijack to see the 6 turn, where both checked.

A K on the river saw Dudani count out a bet of 45,000 and slide it into the pot, which drew a snap-fold out of Grujic.

Bluffin' With His Muffin'

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

There were roughly 28,000 chips in the middle on a board of 8779, Yaji Ren checked from the cutoff to Joao Vieira on the button who put Ren all in for his tournament life when the Q hit the river.

Ren went deep in to the tank before he eventually called. Vieira tabled K10 for a stone bluff and Ren tabled Q10 to scoop this pot whilst leaving Vieira in the danger zone.

Leonard Making Moves

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Nicholas Teeuwen opened from under the gun and Patrick Leonard three-bet to 7,500 from middle position. Marko Grujic was in the hijack and cold four-bet to 15,000, which got Teeuwen to fold. Leonard called.

The flop came 5QA and Leonard check-called a bet of 4,000 from Grujic to the 8 turn, where both checked.

A J fell on the river and Leonard stacked his chips into a single pile and slid them forward for a shove of around 40,000. Grujic released a huge puff of air as he was facing the bet and after around 30 seconds, he let his cards go.

Two Doubles Are Better Than One

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

Joao Vieira found himself all in at risk twice in the space of a few hands.

First Vieira moved all in for 3,900 and only Ricardo Eyzaguirre in the big blind called.

Joao Vieira: Q8 All in
Ricardo Eyzaguirre: Q5

The board ran out 3A768 to give Vieira his first double.

Just a few hands later Vieira moved all in from early position for 9,300 before Michael Troutt isolated on the button to 15,000.

Joao Vieira: A2 All in
Michael Troutt: A7

Vieira would need some help this time, seeing his holding dominated by his opponent.

The 101069 board gave Vieira plenty of opportunities to win or at least split the pot, and the 2 river was exactly what Vieira was hoping for.
