Phil Ivey had only played a few hands at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) before he ran into a weird situation 10 minutes after max late registering for Event #3: $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold'em.
The 11-time bracelet winner entered the tournament at the start of Level 13 on Day 2 with just 12.5 big blinds. He folded his first few hands before playing a pot from the big blind that ended with the floor supervisor being called over to rule on his river bet.

Go bet 16,000 on a flop of 8♦A♥Q♣ and Lonis called, only for the action slow down when the 8♣ hit the turn as both players checked.
When the 9♦ hit the river, Go checked it over and Lonis bet 58,000, which was snap called by Go.
Lonis tabled A♣9♣ for two pair and scooped the pot, taking his stack to around 100 big blinds.
On a flop of A♥9♣2♦. Joshua Remitio checked and then called Frederic Normand's bet of 7,000.
The turn brought the 10♠ and Remitio checked, then Normand cranked the bet up to 19,000, which Remitio called.
The J♥ fell on the river and again Remitio checked. This time Normand decided to apply maximum pressure by betting 40,000 to put Remitio to the test for his remaining chips.
After he tanked for a short while, Remitio made the call with 9♠6♠ and was relieved to see he has picked off Normand's bluff of 5x4x and was rewarded with a full double-up.
Yita Choong raised to 10,000 from early position, Brandon Hamlet asked for a count on Choong's stack asking if he had 64,000 behind. Hamlet then three-bet to 30,000. Choong took a moment to move all in for his remaining chips and Hamlet quickly made the call.
Yita Choong: A♠K♣
Brandon Hamlet: K♥Q♦
The cards ran out 7♥10♥2♣3♥ to the turn, but the river revealed the Q♠ giving Hamlet a pair of queens to eliminate Choong from the tournament.
Michael Banducci raised 11,000 from the cutoff and Andrew Kim called from the big blind. A monotone flop arrived with 8♦K♦3♦ and both players checked.
On the turn 3♠, Kim took a stab for 8,000 and Banducci made the call.
The river A♠ saw a check from Kim and Banducci took a shot and bet out 15,000 and Kim quickly made the call.
Kim turned over A♦4♥ and Banducci tabled A♥10♥ for a chopped pot. Banducci stated, "That was a bad river for you", as Kim was drawing to the nut flush.
