Bluff-Catch Doesn't Work Out For Schreiber

Level 6 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

With around 25,000 in the pot, Matthew Schreiber and Philip Sternheimer went heads-up after the draw. Sternheimer then bet 25,000 from the hijack.

"I have no sevens or deuces in my hand. That makes me want to call," Schreiber said.

"I feel like you're snowing me, Philip. But every time I pay you off you have it," Schreiber added. "Okay, you deserve it," he added, tossing in the chips.

Sternheimer showed 9x7x6x5x2x and Schreiber mucked. "You have me pipped," Schreiber told him as Sternheimer took in the pot.

Paur Pays Seiver Off

Level 6 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

Scott Seiver opened to 2,500 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 8,000 by Taylor Paur on the button. It was folded back to Seiver, who called.

Seiver drew one and Paur stood pat. Seiver then bet 15,000 and Paur decided to look him up after a bit of thought.

"Nine-seven," Seiver said as he turned over 9x7x5x4x3x as advertised. Paur mucked his hand and Seiver added to his stack.

Joshua Faris

Joshua Faris raised to 2,500 in early position and Brian Rast called on the button. Hal Rotholz then three-bet to 12,000 in the small blind, Faris four-bet to 28,000, and Rast got out of the way. Rotholz called and they both stood pat.

Rotholz then led out for 28,000 and Faris moved all in. Rotholz tanked for several minutes before calling for 25,000 more as Faris showed him the bad news by turning over 7x5x4x3x2x for a pat wheel. Rotholz tossed 9x8x7x6x4x into the muck as he hit the rail.

Nicholas Schulman
Nicholas Schulman

The first week of the 2025 World Series of Poker came out swinging with big bluffs, brutal beats, and more than a few moments that had the entire poker world talking.

Whether it was Nick Schulman dropping the coldest line of the summer, Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek shoving blind into four premium hands, or Christopher Zollo turning a meme-worthy alias into a legit bracelet run, the first seven days of poker's biggest festival did not disappoint.

Level 7 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,800 ante

Samuel Sternfield raised to 3,000 under the gun and Yuri Dzivielevski moved all in for 23,000 on the button. Frank Kassela reshoved in the big blind and Sternfield folded.

Dzivielevski and Kassela both stood pat and Dzivielevski showed 9x7x6x4x2x. Kassela went digging through the muck to find out what he would've gotten on a draw before mucking and handing over the double up.
