Allez Romain! Just 636 Players Advance from Monster Stack Day 1b

Romain Lewis

Day 1a of Event #37: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em saw 476 players advance from a field of 1,872 players. There was an equally large field on Day 1b with over 2,000 entries.

Eventually, from the field of 2,010, just 636 players advanced and they are led by Caleb Larsen. Larsen, whose largest career cash with a 621st-place finish in last year's WSOP Main Event, was the only player to bag over 700,000 chips.

Closely behind him is Benjamin Leilous (582,500) and former bracelet-winner and Winamax Ambassador Romain Lewis (507,000). Lewis took down the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em at the 2021 World Series of Poker, and is well-positioned for a deep run in the Monster Stack after bagging up over half a million chips.

Today sees the second flight of Event #37: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em get started at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This is the second of four Day 1 flights, each of which kicks off at 10 a.m. on its respective date. Each flight will consist of 11 blind levels, each lasting 60 minutes. There will be a 20-minute break every two levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 8, approximately at 7 p.m.

Late registration is available during every Day 1 until the end of Level 10. Players start with 50,000 in chips and may enter each flight once, provided they have not already secured a Day 1 finish.

Day 2 will see the survivors of all four flights combined at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 15. Play will continue for another 10 blind levels, which is also the plan for Day 3. This event is not expected to crown a winner until Day 4. PokerNews traditional coverage of this event starts on Day 2.

On June 11, Day 1a attracted 1,872 players, with 476 progressing to Day 2. Nikolay Volper bagged a tournament-leading 793,000 chips after 11 levels. Plenty of stellar names, bracelet winners, and 25K Fantasy Draft picks entered the mix during the opening flight; more are expected today.
