Ismen Flushed Out

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Before any community cards were dealt, Tolga Ismen had shoved for 18,000, and was called by Lawrence Ross, with almost 10,000 in dead money in the middle.

Tolga Ismen: A8 All in
Lawrence Ross: AQ

The flop A73 didn't give Ismen any help, with the exception of some unlikely backdoor chops, however the 8 turn gave him life again, as his two pair was now favourite to hold and give him a big double. He was still celebrating as the 2 river peeled off, giving Ross the backdoor flush, and sending Ismen home brutally.

Set Over Set For Simon

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

David Simon opened to 3,000 from under the gun, and saw a call from Colin Dentan in middle position. Andrei Konopelko then woke up with a hand in the cutoff and decided to jam for 15,100, and Simon went for a four-bet, to 35,000. Dentan was clearly in a tough spot, and didn't want to let go of his cards immediately. "I'll show if you fold," said Simon comedically, and that's exactly what happened as Dentan let go of his cards, and the two remaining players tabled theirs.

Andrei Konopelko: 55 All in
David Simon: KK

Konopelko thought he had found a saving grace as he saw a five in the window, but the 5K9 flop gave Simon a higher set, and left Konopelko drawing to just a single out. The 8 turn and 6 river sealed Konopelko's fate, and as he was leaving the table Dentan cried "My sevens!" realising he would've scooped with a rivered straight.

Livschitz Flopped Set Eliminates Forbes

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was picked up with two players on the flop of JA6 and a pot of around 11,000. David Forbes fired 15,600 in the big blind, sending Victoria Livschitz, in the cutoff, to the tank. After a few seconds, she called.

The turn brought 4. Forbes shoved all in for 25,000, and Livschitz called, putting her opponent at-risk.

David Forbes: AK All in
Victoria Livschitz: JJ

Livschitz caught a set on the flop with Forbes drawing dead. The river 9 fell with no consequence. Livschitz scooped the pot as Forbes left the table.

Vedat Deviren limped from under the gun, while Danette Smith raised to 3,000 from middle position. It folded back to Deviren, and he flicked in a three-bet of 7,000. Smith announced, "All in," for 33,000 effective. Deviren requested a count.

Deviren stated, "I have a big pair," and then called.

Rose Outflops Kweskin

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

From the cutoff, Boyd Rose raised to 2,100, and met immediate resistance from Aaron Kweskin, who shoved for his remaining 13,100 chips. As Rose was tanking, Kweskin let him know that "there's no shame in folding."

Rose replied "I'm thinking, I probably won't."

"Take your time," said Kweskin.

Eventually, Rose called, saying "I think I'll lose."

Kweskin disagreed, saying "I think you'll win, with the way you've been running these past few months."

Boyd Rose: KQ

Kweskin's predictions came true, as the 3Q729 runout sent him away just before the dinner break.

Baxter Flushes Alekseev Away

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Billy Baxter
Billy Baxter

On a flop of Q69, Matt Glantz bet 8,000 into the middle as first to act, and Billy Baxter made the call. Igor Alekseev then ripped in his 31,800 stack. Glantz got out of the way, but Baxter's decision wasn't so easy. He asked for a count, and then placed in his chips to indicate a call.

Igor Alekseev: 99 All in
Billy Baxter: A5

Play was paused for a moment, as the dealer waited for Alekseev to get his phone onto the camera app, as he wanted to record the runout. Once everyone was ready, the dealer put out the A on the turn. Although Baxter's hand improved, he was still only drawing to a diamond, and it came as the 10 eliminated Alekseev from the competition.

"No wonder you have so many bracelets," joked Alekseev, "you hit every single hand!" Baxter laughed, and replied, "the bracelets were a long time ago."

Prager Cracks Kings

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Michael Vela raised to 2,000 from early position, and got calls from Joshua Prager in the hijack, Anselmo Villareal in the cutoff, and David Roepke on the button. Undeterred by all the previous action, Robert Flanders then ripped in his stack of 16,400 from the small blind. Big blind John Morgan considered getting in there, but eventually folded, as did Vela. Prager reshoved to isolate, and did so effectively as the two remaining players folded, and the dealer called for showdown.

Robert Flanders: KK All in
Joshua Prager: A10

The 10106 flop was brutal for Flanders, even more so as Morgan laughed and announced: "I folded king-ten of diamonds, that would've been a b****." Not only did Flanders now realize that he only had one out, but also that Prager had managed to find the only two remaining tens in the deck to take the lead. After the 94 runout was dealt, Vela let the table know that he had folded an ace, as Flanders left the tournament area.
