After losing a huge pot, Ramana Epparla shoved his remaining 1,550,000 into the middle from under the gun. David Baker flatted from middle position, and when action got round to Chuanshu Chen in the small blind, he had a real decision on his hands. After three minutes of tanking, he made the fold.
Ramana Epparla: 8♠8♥
David Baker: 10♦10♥
Epparla couldn't watch, and left the tournament area as his fate was sealed by the K♥4♦A♣2♥A♥.
Chen revealed that he had made a big laydown with pocket sevens.
John Esposito opened from under the gun to 400,000 and Carmino Argiero called the big blind.
They saw the 7♠4♥5♦ flop and Argiero checked and Esposito moved all in for his remaining 2,700,000 stack, putting himself at risk. Argiero made a swift call and flipped over his hand.
John Esposito: A♦8♦
Carmino Argiero: 6♥3♥
Argiero's flopped straight held on the K♣, 8♣ runout and Esposito was eliminated in 7th place.
Action folded to Scott Eskenazi in the cutoff, and he shoved all of his remaining chips in, a total just over ten big blinds. Chuanshu Chen woke up with a hand on the button, and called the shove.
Scott Eskenazi: A♣J♣
Chuanshu Chen: J♦J♥
The board kept Chen sweating the whole way through. The 4♠2♥5♣ gave Eskenazi a wheel draw, and the 10♣ turn had him drawing to the nut flush. That being said, he missed on the Q♠ river, and was sent home right before the final table.
Josef Gulas opened the button to 250,000 and David "ODB" Baker three bet to 750,000. Gulas moved all in for his remaining 2,000,000 stack, and Baker snap called.
Josef Gulas: A♥Q♣
David "ODB" Baker: A♠10♥
Gulas just needed to hold to double, but the 10♠6♣7♣ flop went Baker's way and Gulas let out a sigh.
He stood from the table and watched the K♥ turn and 9♥ river seal his fate and he was eliminated in the first hand after the dinner break.
David "ODB" Baker raised to 160,000 from middle position, and was called by Ramana Epparla in the cutoff. Big blind Ernest Ward then shoved for 880,000. Both of the other players called.
On a flop of Q♣6♠7♦ Baker bet 400,000 into a dry side pot, and Ramana Epparla made the call. The action was more bizarre on the turn, however, as the J♥ peeled off, and Baker bet again, this time for 500,000. As Epparla was tanking, he lifted up his cards, accidentally allowing Baker to see the A♣ on the bottom. Baker then let Epparla know that he'd seen the card, an after some more tanking, Epparla laid down his cards, and put his head in his hands showdown ensued.
Ernest Ward: K♦6♦
David "ODB" Baker: 9♠9♥
Ward was in big trouble, and the 2♣ peeled off on the river, eliminating him. A player asked Epparla what he had folded, to which he replied "ace-queen"
Curt Kohlberg shoved roughly 400,000 chips into the middle from the small biind, Stephen Bierman called in the big blind.
Curt Kohlberg: Q♦6♦
Stephen Bierman: Q♥8♦
The flop came 5♥J♣Q♣, which gave both players a pair, but the 8♠ on the turn eliminated Kohlberg from the tournament before the 9♠ was dealt on the river.
