Marlowe Goes Into the Big Sleep
No doubt the best bubble drama involved John Marlowe, who came back from the dinner break with a single chip worth 1,000, a third of the big blind.
Fortunately, for Marlowe, he was behind the button. So milking the clock every time the action came to him before folding, enabled him to hang around until only one more player needed to bust out for him to make the money.
When Marlowe finally put in his solo chip from under the gun, he got four callers and had the winning hand.
The win gave him 8,000 in chips, which was exactly what he needed to post the big blind, the big blind ante and the small blind.
The small blind raised him out of his big blind hand. No other player in the event busted.
The next hand, Gabriel Andrade, the button, was the only caller. Marlowe's tournament cash was at serious risk. No other table in the room had an all-in.
John Marlowe: Q♣10♥9♦2♠
Gabriel Andrade: A♥A♦K♣6♠
The drama didn't last long, as Marlowe flopped a boat and it held as the board ran out 2♥2♣Q♠10♠K♦.
He woke up and played at a normal pace after that, and was knocked out of the event 20 minutes later in 271st place.
