Matthew Wantman
Matthew Wantman

Day 2 of Event #49: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed will get underway at noon today with 69 players returning to Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas to battle it out for a share of the $3,794,070 prize pool that has been accumulated from the buy-ins of all 1,421 entrants.

The top score of $574,223 will certainly be within the sights of chip leader Ori Hasson, who has a massive 3,655,000 chips, more than double third place. Coming not so close in second is 25K Fantasy Draft pick Matthew Wantman (2,355,000), with Tyler Patterson (1,800,000) rounding out the top three.

Also progressing are Stephen Song (1,075,000), Yang Zhang (735,000), Pedro Neves (645,000), Danny Wong (435,000), and Justin Liberto (195,000), all of whom will be looking to double their bracelet tally today.

The remaining competitors will take their seats in Horseshoe Silver, as play begins at Level 22, with blinds at 15,000/30,000, with a 30,000 big blind ante. Unlike yesterday, each level will be 40 minutes in duration, rather than 30. As opposed to a set number of levels being played today, the plan is to play until a winner is crowned and a bracelet will be given out.

Keep up to date with all the action, as PokerNews offers live updates throughout this competition’s final day.

Wong replied jokingly, "Yes, it's going to be a day about winning races".

Wantman Takes from Altman

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With two players seeing a board of Q47 and around 390,000 in the middle, Matthew Wantman checked from the cutoff and called a 120,000 bet from Brian Altman on the button.

The two players then checked the 10 turn and 6 river. Wantman showed a pair with 99 and Altman mucked his hand.

Victoria Livschitz shoved from the button for 540,000 and Anatoly Nikitin, who had her slightly covered, called from the small blind to put her at risk.

Victoria Livschitz: 66 All in
Anatoly Nikitin: KQ

Nikitin had two overs and a gutshot on the AJ9 flop but the 7 turn and J river were clean for Livschitz and she doubled up, leaving Nikitin with less than one big blind.

Quads to Survive

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Stoyan Madanzhiev
Stoyan Madanzhiev

Stoyan Madanzhiev found himself under the gun and raised to 60,000. On his direct left, cutoff Danny Wong shoved, covering the entire table. Madanzhiev had action after the blinds folded. He thought for a while, checked the payouts, and made the call.

Stoyan Madanzhiev: 99 All in
Danny Wong: AK

The flop couldn't have been more of a sweat for either player, as it came down 394 giving Madanzhiev top set, while Wong had a flush draw. The turn 9 rendered the flush draw irrelevant, as Madanzhiev it quads and became unbeatable. The K river was nothing but a needle to Wong

Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

In a topsy-turvy couple of hands, Jason Wheeler managed to lose half his chips and then double up his chips.

In the first hand, Noel Rodriguez moved all in from the button for 240,000, and Jason Wheeler isolated all in from the small blind with the superior stack.

Noel Rodriguez: JJ All in
Jason Wheeler: 77

The board ran out with A3265, and Rodriguez would double his stack, and Wheeler was on life support.

In the second hand, Jason Wheeler moved all in from the button, and Justin Liberto isolated all in from the small blind for 280,000 effective.

Jason Wheeler: AQ All in
Justin Liberto: KJ

Wheeler's luck turned around on the second board A4AA5, and quads were good for the win.

River Survival for Duan

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Action was picked up on a board reading 4Q9. There was 350,000 in the middle, and Chao Duan had shoved for his remaining 340,000 chips. The only other play still in the hand, Fabian Niederreiter, made the call.

Chao Duan: 97 All in
Fabian Niederreiter: AA

Duan was way behind and in need of a miracle. It didn't come on the 8 turn, but the 9 river gave him trips, as he doubled up and survived.

Agorreta Chips up

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Three hands in a row, Javier Agorreta looked down at his cards, and liked them enough to go all in. Despite being on a five-handed table, he was out of the blinds in each of these hands, and has more than doubled up his stack without having to see a flop.

Wantman Stealing Some Pots

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

On the verge of a small pay jump, the action has slowed down, but that hasn't stopped Matthew Wantman from being very active. On this particular hand, Wantman raised to 80,000 from the cutoff, and Jose Angel Latorre called from the big blind.

The flop arrived with 482, and Latorre checked to the preflop raiser, who bet 50,000. Latorre pulled the check raise and put 150,000 in the pot. Wantman made the call.

On the turn K, Latorre checked, and Wantman put in an intimidating 260,000. Latorre folded and Wantman raked in some more chips.

Ahuja Makes the Pay Jump

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Ankit Ahuja had action on him, and he raised to 80,000 on the button. Big blind Connor Rash then shoved, covering Ahuja by quite a bit. Due to being one elimination away from a $1,300 increase in payout, Ahuja let the table know he was going into the tank to attempt to ladder up. Uri Reichenstein was having none of it and called clock, but Ahuja called before it ran out, as another player had busted.

Ankit Ahuja: A10 All in
Connor Rash: AQ

The 947 flop left Ahuja completely on the ropes, and he couldn't improve as the board ran out 39
