Philip Sternheimer raised from the cutoff to 70,000. Lou Garza, in the big blind, raised to roughly 160,000. Sternheimer made the call, putting himself at risk.
Philip Sternheimer: Q♣Q♠7♦6♣
Lou Garza: A♠A♥K♠3♥
The board ran out 8♦3♦2♦Q♦9♣, and the turned set from Sternheimer earned him a double-up worth 400,000 chips.
Biao Ding raised to 50,000 under the gun. Martin Kabrhel inquired if that was a legal size before he called. Philip Sternheimer then raised the pot to 215,000 in the small blind, folding out Ding.
"In for a dime, in for a house," Kabrhel chimed as he put in a call.
The flop fell 5♠J♠5♦. "I think I have a five," Kabrhel gleefully stated as he checked his cards. "Yes! It's so sick!" he cheered afterward.
Sternheimer still put Kabrhel all-in for 85,000, and Kabrhel eventually called.
Martin Kabrhel: A♠Q♠8♥3♥
Philip Sternheimer: A♦10♥9♥8♦
"I can't believe it! He was totally bluffing!" Kabrhel shouted across the Horseshoe Event Center.
The board ran out with an inconsequential 7♥7♣, and Kabrhel doubled up with his ace-queen kicker.
Sternheimer was left with just 40,000, which he lost not much later to be eliminated.
Andjelko Andrejevic raised to 50,000 in middle position. Next to act, Nick Schulman potted to 190,000. Phil Hellmuth, who just entered the tournament, went into the tank two to Schulman's left. He eventually folded. Action folded around to Andrejevic, who called.
The flop was A♣10♠9♣ and Andrejevic checked. Schulman moved all in, and Andrejevic called.
Nick Schulman: A♥A♦7♦2♦
Andjelko Andrejevic: K♠J♦J♠10♦
The turn was the 5♥ and river was the 5♦, and Schulman's full house gave him a double and left Andrejevic very short stacked.
Action folded to Farid Jatten in the small blind, who limped. Big blind Alex Foxen raised to 45,000, and Jatten made the call.
Both players checked the Q♦J♥6♥ flop, which prompted Jatten to lead out on the 3♦ turn, betting 90,000. Foxen called, and the two continued to a river.
The river J♠ was enough to slow Jatten down, electing to check. Foxen wasn't done with the pot yet, though, sliding out a bet of 285,000.
Jatten looked suspicious and even used a time bank whilst considering what to do, ultimately choosing to fold.
Andjelko Andrejevic had already gone all in at a previous point in the hand when Lou Garza won a side pot on the 6♦8♥9♣3♦ turn, bringing it to a heads-up showdown.
Joao Simao raised from the cutoff to 40,000 and was re-raised by Manuel Stojanovic in the big blind to 130,000. Simao made the call.
The J♣9♠7♠ flop was followed by a check from Stojanovic, a bet of 225,000 from Simao, and an all-in bet from Stojanovic to 440,000, putting himself at risk. Simao made the call.
Manuel Stojanovic: A♥10♦8♥6♦
Joao Simao: K♣6♣4♠3♠
The 9♣K♥ runout was safe for Stojanovic, and he found the double-up worth over a million chips.
Najeem Ajez raised on the cutoff to 55,000, and Christopher Frank, on the button, made the call. Frank Crivello then increased the price of poker to 210,000 from the small blind, and both Ajez and Frank called.
Crivello then moved the rest of his stack into the middle, roughly 400,000, on the 3♦9♠9♦ flop. Ajez folded, but Frank made the immediate call.
Frank Crivello: A♣Q♥J♣9♣
Christopher Frank: A♦K♥6♥2♦
The turn A♠ improved Crivello to a full house, and after the dealer revealed the 2♠ river, the pot was pushed towards Crivello.
