Josephson Finds a Double

Level 2

No-Limit Hold'em

Loren Egide opened the hijack to 6,000 before Gregory Josephson clicked it to 1,200 in the cutoff. In the small blind, Kiyoshi Eda made it 3,000. Egide folded and Josephson called.

On the QJ9 flop, Eda led to put Josephson at risk and he called off his final 4,000.

Gregory Josephson: KJ All in
Kiyoshi Eda: AK

Josephson had the dominated hand preflop but paired his jack to take the lead. Eda still had a gutshot and one over, and he picked up the nut flush draw on the 8 turn. However, the river was the 8 and Josephson held to collect the full double.

2-7 Triple Draw

Three ways on the second draw, Dave Stann drew one fro the big blind, Barry Greenstein drew one from the cutoff, and Joey Couden drew one on the button. Stann checked to Greenstein, who bet. Both Couden and Stann called.

On the final draw, Stann and Couden drew one while Greenstein stood pat. It was then checked to Couden, who bet. Stann called, Greenstein folded, and Couden announced "Wheel," as he turned over 7x5x4x3x2x for the goods.

Stann mucked his hand and Couden added to his stack.

"Who Will Get the Luckiest?"

Level 2

2-7 Triple Draw

Elias Nassif raised under the gun and was called by Timothy Finne in the hijack and Dekel Balas in the big blind.

Everyone took two cards and Nassif bet, Finne raised, Balas cold-called, and Nassif called.

On the second draw, everyone was reduced to one new card and the action checked through.

Everyone took one again as Balas joked, "Who will get the luckiest?" and the action checked through again.

Balas announced a ten-six and tabled 10x6x5x4x2x for the winner as the others mucked.

"You got the luckiest," replied Finne in the post-mortem.

Visser Gets Half with a Monster

Level 1

Stud Hi-Lo

Gregory Genovese: AJ10 / Q569
Frank Visser: A72 / 356J
Robert Cochran: K52 / 4369

Action was not picked up until seventh as the three players had built a pot of almost 13,000, which is a difficult task with 300-600 limits.

Genovese led on seventh with the highest board, Visser raised, and Cochran cold-called. Genovese then made it three bets, Visser made it four bets, and both opponents called.

Genovese had the ace-queen high flush while Visser had the lesser ace-jack flush for the high. For the low half, Visser had a six-five-three against the six-five-four of Cochran as Visser barely scrapped together half with a monster holding

De Michele Has Coakley Pipped

Level 1

Limit Hold'em

Donald Coakley raised from the cutoff, Alessandro De Michele three-bet from the button, and Coakley called.

Coakley check-called a bet on the Q104 flop.

De Michele fired again on the 5 turn before the A river quickly checked through. Coakley tabled 77 before De Michele happily revealed 88 as he had the slightly bigger pair to drag an early one.

Beginner's Luck for Pilewicz

Level 1

Pot-Limit Omaha

Richard Pilewicz had just taken his seat under the gun and the current game was Pot-Limit Omaha. Table-mate Christopher Wallace was kind enough to explain the rules to Pilewicz.

"You have to use two cards from your hand," explained Wallace.

Pilewicz then organized his cards into two stacks of two cards.

"No, no, you aren't folding any of them yet," warned Wallace.

Pilewicz limped under the gun, Ian Pelz completed from the small blind, and Wallace checked his option in the big blind.

On the J97 flop, the action checked to Pilewicz who bet 800 and both opponents folded quickly.

An obligatory, "Easy game," comment was made by another table-mate as Pilewicz dragged his first pot. What is $1,500 between friends?
