Matthew Beinner raised and then faced the short-stacked all-in of Anatoly Nikitin for 18,100 total. They engaged in some table chat during which Beinner said he may not have a choice.
"I can't really say anything but I would prefer if you didn't gamble," Nikitin replied. A couple seconds later, Beinner called.
Anatoly Nikitin: 7♣7♠
Matthew Beinner: A♥Q♣
The A♠10♦3♠Q♠K♦ board improved Beinner who then dodged spades and sevens to knock out Nikitin.
The third row of tables has started to break and the players bagged up their chips to move over to the Horseshoe. Below are some of those still remaining in the yellow section in the Paris Ballroom.
Action was followed from the J♥2♠10♣ flop with a pot of around 10,000 when Ari Pelcovitz check-called the big blind after Adrian Lopez bet 3,500 from under the gun. Derek Nold called from early position, Hitesh Patel called the cutoff and Caitlin Comeskey also called on the button.
The Q♥ turn prompted action to check around to Patel who bet 8,500. Comeskey folded, as did Pelcovitz. Lopez called, but Nold moved all in for his remaining 39,300.
Patel took some time before calling, and Lopez got out of the way as the players flipped their hands heads-up on the turn.
Derek Nold: K♥10♥
Hitesh Patel: Q♠8♠
Nold was looking at a heart flush draw and a straight draw, but sitting with a pair of tens. Patel had paired up to a queen on the turn and was ahead.
No luck came for Nold on the Q♦ river, which only improved Patel and Nold was eliminated from the tournament in the first level of the day.
Nearly 90,000 was already in the pot as Shuyang Han and Liam Jehu got all their chips in the middle on a flop of 2♦3♠8♣, Han in early position and Jehu in the hijack.
Shuyang Han: K♠K♦
Liam Jehu: A♠A♥
Han showed down two kings, but Jehu had woken up with aces and was poised to take down the massive pot. The board ran out 9♣Q♥ and Jehu secured the pot.
The stacks were counted down and Han had around 60,000 remaining, while Jehu had 85,000 to send Han to the rail.
Jonathan Walker raised to 1,600 from middle position and was called by Jordan Alpert in the cutoff, Orion Schmitz in the small blind, and Wenyan Liao in the big blind for a four-way pot.
It was checked to Walker, who shoved for a bit over 15,000 on the 4♣10♣Q♥ flop. Alpert called to put him at risk and both Liao and Schmitz got out of the way.
Jonathan Walker: K♥J♣
Jordan Alpert: J♠10♦
Walker would need some help with his open-ended straight draw with an over, but the 5♥7♥ bricked out and Alpert collected the rest of Walker's chips.
On a flop of J♦10♣5♣, Artashes Kartalyan check-raised out of the small blind from 3,000 to 8,000 and Adam Snook on the button then reraised to more than 60,000.
"How much is that? Is it more than me?" Kartalyan asked and then gave it a few more seconds before he called all in for 50,300.
Artashes Kartalyan: 5♦5♥
Adam Snook: A♣J♥
Snook was somewhat shaken when he was shown bottom set. but had some outs with the Q♥ turn. The river was the 3♥, and Kartalyan doubled.
Gilad Rubinsky raised to 2,000 from early position only to face a three-bet from Jiyun Qu in middle position to 5,500. Maciej Gut, also in middle position, then four-bet all in for 23,100. Rubinsky folded, and Qu called.
Maciej Gut: A♣K♦
Jiyun Qu: Q♣Q♦
The flop came 6♥4♣3♣ and was no real danger for Qu, and when the 8♦ peeled off on the turn Gut was drawing to six outs. The 10♠ on the river was not one of them and he was sent to the rail.
