Mercer Shows Strength

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Luther Tran started the action with 2,100 under the gun and got a three-bet from the man to his left, Bradley Mercer to 4,800. When action folded back to him, Tran called.

The dealer unfurled QAA. Tran checked, and Mercer bet another 5,000 into the pot. Tran didn't hesitate to let go of his hand.

Devereux Folds Out Sharrak

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Billy Sharrak opened to 2,000 from early position and David Prociak called in middle position. Gareth Devereux in the cutoff and Christopher Vitch in the big blind called as well.

The flop rolled out A55 and Vitch checked over to Sharrak who bet 2,500 and only Devereux called.

Sharrak bet 8,000 on the turn J and Devereux called.

On the river A, Sharrak checked over to Devereux who bet 13,000 and Sharrak folded after some thought.

The action was joined as middle position player Jeremy Ausmus had moved all in for 37,400, and Jeffrey Thone, who had already put in a preflop raise to 14,000 from the button, made the call.

Jeremy Ausmus: KK All in
Jeffrey Thone: AQ

It was a very safe runout for Ausmus, as the dealer spread a 57395 board, earning Ausmus a full double up.

With around 5,000 in the middle on a flop of 3103 Najeem Ajez checked from the big blind and then called a bet of 1,000 out of Joseph Krasner from middle position.

The 5 rolled off on the turn and Ajez check-called another bet from Krasner, this time for 4,000.

The Q hit the river, and Ajez checked for the last time before Krasner put out a huge overbet of 35,000. Ajez looked visibly perplexed by the bet and took a few moments before choosing to fold.

Youngster Chipping Up

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Garry Gurevich, one of the youngest players in the field, has more than doubled his chip stack in one and a half levels of play on Day 2.

Gurevich, who turned 21 three months ago, picked up a huge double-up when he made a straight against Roberto Saenz' overpair.

Arieh Makes the Correct Call to Leave Audoli Short

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Josh Arieh

Heads-up on a board of J975 with approximately 20,000 already in the middle, Baptiste Audoli bet 16,000 from the big blind and Josh Arieh called from the hijack after a bit of thought.

The Q filled the river and Audoli fired 45,000 into the middle — sending Arieh deep into the tank.

Arieh asked the dealer to spread the pot and he counted out his own stack, clearly struggling with the decision.

After a couple of minutes, Arieh stuck in a call and Audoli could only turn over 104 for a bluff.

Arieh revealed A9 for a pair of nines and was awarded the pot.

"You're sick," Kornuth said to Arieh from across the table.
