Two Players At Risk, Both Survive

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Shuofei Geng
Shuofei Geng

Jeffrey Korn kicked the action off with a raise under the gun to 2,500. On his immediate left, Matthew Cannuli wasted little time in moving all in for 18,600. The action then folded to Shuofei Geng in the small blind. Geng requested a count of the all-in stack and, with his new information, made the call.

The preflop action wasn't complete yet, though, as Korn responded by moving all in himself, for a total of 23,300. Geng made the call, and the three players turned the cards onto their backs.

Matthew Cannuli: AJ All in
Jeffrey Korn: AK All in
Shuofei Geng: KQ

A promising situation for Korn, who had both players dominated. The A9Q flop only strengthened his position to receive a near triple up.

The turn, however, shot Cannuli into the lead, as the dealer flipped over the J.

The river J sealed the deal for Cannuli, as Korn watched his plans for a triple go up in flames.

The dealer tidied the pot up, sending Cannuli three times as many chips as he had started with, 9,400 in the direction of Korn, who had won the side pot, and nothing to Geng.

To add salt to the wound, Korn would be eliminated just a few hands later.

Julius Pays Off Mcadam

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was joined on the flop of 910J, and Kyle Julius had checked from late position to Robert Mcadam on the button who fired out a bet of 5,500. Julius called.

The turn came the J, and again Julius check-called Mcadam's 11,000 bet this time, and the players saw the 2 roll off on the river.

Julius checked again, and Mcadam, not slowing down, pushed out a bet of 33,000. Julius thought for a while and made the call. Mcadam tabled QK for a flopped straight, and Julius instantly mucked his hand.

Jones Over Bets and Wins

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

In the big blind, James Hurley bet 4,000 on a flop of 82Q and a pot of around 10,000 and got the other two players in the hand to call - Ryan Jones on the button and Waheed Feda in the small blind.

The turn dropped 5 and all three players checked. On the river J, Feda shot out 5,000 pushing Hurley out of the pot. Jones overbet to 26,000, sending Feda to the tank.

Feda shuffled his chips and considered his options. After a few seconds, he conceded his hand and the pot to Jones.

Cates Imprisons Kings

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Dan Cates
Dan Cates

Andrew King opened to 2,600 from middle position and action folded around to Dan Cates in the big blind who three-bet to 10,000 and King called.

The JQK flop saw Cates bet 8,000 and King raise to 25,000. Cates moved all in for around 58,000 and King called.

Dan Cates: 109All in
Andrew King: AK

Cates had flopped a straight and a backdoor flush draw, and King was currently sitting with top pair, with a better straight draw.

Cates waved his wand as the dealer placed the Q turn. Cates secured his double on the 5 river.

Strang Out

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was picked up with Fabio Sanchez and Mark Strang in an all-in showdown.

Mark Strang: A10 All in
Fabio Sanchez: AQ

Sanchez had Strang dominated. Nothing changed when the flop came 659. Strang got additional outs for a gutshot straight draw and a flush draw on the turn 7. But the A fell ending his tournament life. He left the table as Sanchez scooped the pot.

Pandilica Flipped Out by Alvarado

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Carlos Alvarado opened to 2,500 with the 99 and Florin Pandilica jammed the cutoff with the AK for 31,000. The other 99 were folded behind and it folded back to Alvarado, who made the call.

The two over cards for Pandilica failed to connect with the 106227 and that spelled the end for the Romanian.

Brad Owen
Brad Owen

The field has been dwindled to just 3,084 players after three levels on Day 2d and those players are about to take a 75-minute dinner break. The cards are expected to be back in the air at approximately 8:15 p.m. local time, so don't be late! Here is a look at some highlights from the last level:

Ge Is Not Gone Yet

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Over on the main feature table, a small three-bet pot led to the K103 flop on which the tournament life of Zhannan Ge was on the line against Keun Kwak.

Zhannan Ge: AA All in
Keun Kwak: K10

Ge needed an ace, trey or running cards to survive, which he found with the Q turn and Q river.

Locquet Keeps Adding Chips

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Romain Locquet opened to 2,600 with the A9 and found three callers including Loni Hui with the 1010, as they headed to the K53 flop. The nut flush draw of Locquet prompted his bet of 4,300 and Hui was the only caller, leading to the 3 on the turn. Locquet made it another 21,000 to go and forced out Hui's superior hand.
