Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Michael Gonzales
Michael Gonzales

Michael Gonzales raised in the hijack and Wendell Barnes three-bet in the cutoff. Gonzales called.

Gonzales checked on the flop of J10J and Barnes continued for 17,000. Gonzales called. Gonzales checked again on the 3 turn and Barnes bet 30,000. Gonzales check-raised all in and Barnes called. "If you've got the jack you've got the jack."

Michael Gonzales: JJ All in
Wendell Barnes: AA

Gonzales had flopped quads to have Barnes drawing dead with aces and the table reacted in disbelief as the Q river bricked off to earn the Utahn a double.

"How does that happen?" Mallory Klaus reacted.

Jongtae Kim was in the one seat and hadn't seen Barnes' cards in the eight seat. When the dealer pulled them in, Kim reacted with the same disbelief his tablemates had shown 30 seconds earlier.

"You had aces? Wow!" Kim said.

Wisbey Dodges Bullets

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The button opened and Jonathan Wisbey called in the small blind. Paul Dimascio three-bet to 26,000 from the big blind and Wisbey was the only caller.

Wisbey then check-called 17,000 on the A108 flop and 32,000 on the A turn.

The river 10 double-paired the board and both players checked. Wisbey tabled 88 for a full house, eights full of aces, with Dimascio showing KK.

"I guess I should have bluffed," said Dimascio, refering to the runout where any ace would have counterfeit Wisbey's full house.

Preflop Raising Wars

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Andy Tsai tangled with Antoine Labat and four-bet only for the latter to five-bet shove. Tsai asked for his four-bet to be pulled in to check how many chips more he had to call. That was deemed to be another 158,500 on top and Tsai eventually folded.

Another five-bet unfolded between Huabao Chen and Nishant Sharma. The former made it 66,000 to go and then folded when Sharma clicked it back to more than 130,000.

Zulker Drills a One-Outer to Knock Out Hellmuth

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Michael Zulker opened to 6,500 from under the gun and Leon Sturm called from early position. Phil Hellmuth three-bet shoved for 93,000 from the hijack, Zulker called with a covering stack and Sturm mucked 88.

Phil Hellmuth: AK All in
Michael Zulker: QQ

It was a classic race that Zulker was ahead of on the 34J flop. Hellmuth became a huge favorite after making top pair on the K turn, leaving Zulker drawing to just one out given that the Q was folded preflop. The Q river gave Zulker his one out to a set, eliminating the 17-time bracelet winner from the Main Event.

Barattini Cracks Tsujisaka's Aces

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action picked up heads-up to the turn with a little under 70,000 in the middle in a hand between Juan Barattini from middle position and Tetsuya Tsujisaka from the hijack.

With the board reading 10639, Barattini checked to Tsujisaka who bet 30,000. Barattini responded with a check-jam for 96,000 effective as the slightly covering stack, and Tsujisaka snapped it off.

Tetsuya Tsujisaka: AA All in
Juan Barattini: 66

"Are you kidding me?" Tsujisaka lamented as he saw the bad news and he sheepishly revealed his aces.

Tsujisaka pleaded with the dealer "One time, baby!" as the 5 landed on the river which improved neither player, and Tsujisaka's Main Event dream was cut short holding pocket aces.
