Altman Looks Away, Then Looks Alive

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Joseph Altman moved all in from early position for his last 105,000, and action folded around to Yinan Zhou on the button. After a moment of thought, Zhou made the call and the cards went on their backs.

Joseph Altman: 44All in
Yinan Zhou: AA

Altman stood up, likely assuming his run was over against Zhou’s pocket aces. He didn’t even watch the flop, but when he looked back at the table, the 43Q board was already out, and he realized he had flopped a set.

The 6 turn and\J river changed nothing, and Altman completed a surprise double-up, keeping his tournament hopes alive.

Marijan Rankic: AK All in
Daehyung Lee: JJ

Rankic was racking for his tournament life and took the lead on the 9K4 flop with top pair. The Q turn left him a card away from a double up, but Lee spiked the J on the river to make a set and send Rankic to the rail.

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Arnaud Enselme raised to 16,000 from under the gun and Terrance Reid defended from the big blind. The flop fell J73 and Reid check-called a bet from Enselme.

The turn brought the 6 and Reid checked again. Enselme sized up a bet of 62,000 and Reid tagged along for the A on the river. Reid checked for the third time and Enselme shut it down by checking back. Reid turned over 64 for a pair of sixes but Enselme had that beat with KK.

Rann Hits the Rail

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

James Rann shoved for his last 13,000 first to act and was called by Alex Bergfors from directly behind, Kathy Liebert in the hijack, Kosaku Akashi in the cutoff, and Ihab Ali in the big blind for a five-way pot.

Ali checked to Bergfors, who bet 21,000 on the 94A flop. Everyone got out of the way and a showdown was held between Bergfors and Rann.

James Rann: 87All in
Alex Bergfors: A5

"I need runner-runner," Rann said as he revealed his holding.

It was indeed bleak for Rann, and the 3 turn left him drawing dead.

The 5 river neednessly improved Bergfors to two pair to make Rann's elimination official.
