Chih Fan raised to 240,000 from the hijack and Bradley Jansen jammed for 920,000 from the cutoff. When it got back to Fan, he called.
Bradley Jansen: A♣K♠
Chih Fan: 7♠7♦
Jansen had Big Blick in back-to-back hands, but this time he had to connect with the board to stay alive.
However, it was Fan that hit the flop hard, as it came 6♥2♦7♣ to give Fan top set. The remainder of the runout came 4♣8♣, and Jansen was the next casualty of the Main Event.
Francis Anderson was eliminated a few hands earlier at this table when he shoved for around 900,000 with ace-nine, but Nicolas Enjamio picked up two kings and Anderson failed to improve.
Enjamio, fresh off that knockout, then raised to 250,000 under the gun and Diego Ponce three-bet to 775,000 in the cutoff. Enjamio moved all in for 4,300,000 and Ponce practically beat him into the pot.
Nicolas Enjamio: Q♥Q♣
Diego Ponce: A♣A♠
Enjamio had picked up another big pair, but this time he had run right into Ponce's aces. The board ran out K♣K♦7♣3♥7♥ and Enjamio was sent to the rail.
"Would you call it off knowing you're facing the nuts in the Main Event?"
Craig Trost found himself asking this in a heads-up pot against Michael Mizrachi to his left on a board of 6♠7♦8♥.
Trost had committed nearly all of his stack of 845,000 with just a single 5,000 chip behind. Mizrachi, thinking his opponent was all in, called and tabled the nuts with 10♥9♥. Trost had a decision: call knowing you are up against the nuts, or fold and be left with less than a tenth of a small blind.
"It's a pretty weird spot," Trost said. "I mean, it's a legitimate decision."
Trost called and his cards joined Mizrachi's on their backs.
Craig Trost: KxKx
Trost was nearly dead but the 6♦ turn kept him alive as the table braced for what could be a crazy river. But the 8♣ bricked off and Trost was sent to the rail as Mizrachi's straight held up.
Action was picked up with the cards already tabled. Michael Parisi was all-in for roughly 1,200,000 from the small blind and at risk against Johan Schumacher, who had him covered from the hijack.
Michael Parisi: K♦Q♥
Johan Schumacher: 9♥9♦
The board ran out 8♠8♦5♦2♠A♥, and Schumacher’s pocket nines held to eliminate Parisi.
On the very next hand, Murly Manokharan shoved for 1,425,000 from under the gun. Bruno Furth re-raised to 3,000,000 from the cutoff, forcing out the blinds.
Murly Manokharan: K♣Q♥
Bruno Furth: 9♠9♥
“Oh, repeat,” Manokharan remarked, referencing the previous hand.
The J♠10♥4♠ flop gave Manokharan an open-ended straight draw to go with his overs but the 5♦ turn and 2♣ river offered no help. Furth raked in the pot and shared a fist bump with Schumacher as Manokharan hit the rail.
Stephen Hesse made it 250,000 from early position before Chih Fan three-bet to 1,225,000 from the hijack. Hesse four-bet jammed to put Fan all in, and Fan called for his 2,920,000 total.
Chih Fan: K♣Q♣
Stephen Hesse: K♥K♦
Fan was in terrible shape against the pocket kings of Hesse and was looking for some clubs to stay in contention. The 4♣A♥3♣ flop offered Fan a flush draw. However, the 7♥ turn and 2♥ river were red, and Fan was out of the Main Event.
Alen Tenorio made it 250,000 from early position before Murilo Milhomem three-bet to 700,000 from the next seat. When it got back to Tenorio, he four-bet jammed for 4,210,000, and Milhomem called to put him at risk.
Alen Tenorio: A♥A♦
Murilo Milhomem: K♥K♣
Tenorio found himself on the right side of a cooler and was poised to double-up to almost nine million. But, the 6♠6♣K♦ flop was a disaster, as Milhomem flopped a boat to take a commanding lead and left Tenorio on the brink of elimination. The turn came the 10♣, and the river the 2♠. Tenorio wished everyone good luck before making his way out of the tournament area.
On the river of a 9♥7♦6♥K♥6♠ board, Jameson Painter bet 700,000 out of the big blind. Yuchen Chen was his only opponent by then who then raised to 1,800,000. Painter reluctantly called and mucked when he was shown the K♣6♣ for a full house.
Painter was left with only one big blind and jammed that out of the small blind when it was checked to him, Corey Skogrand didn't even need to call in the big blind as it was for exactly 120,000.
Jameson Painter: K♦J♦
Corey Skogrand: Q♣8♦
The 10♣8♥7♣8♣2♦ board gave Skogrand trips eights and Painter was eliminated.
Dmitrii Perfilev bet 560,000 from under the gun on a flop of 10♣3♠4♣ and Juan Carlos Vecino called in the cutoff. Don Carrillo then moved all in for 5,240,000 in the small blind.
Perfilev had around 2,000,000 remaining and tanked for several minutes before Carrillo called the clock. Perfilev eventually folded, but Vecino snap-called.
Don Carrillo: A♣8♣
Juan Carlos Vecino: 4♦4♠
Vecino showed a set, while Carrillo had a flush draw. The K♦ turn was no help to Carrillo, while the K♠ river improved Vecino to a full house and earned him the knockout.
Perfilev shot out of his seat at the sight of the rivered king and let out a loud yell. He later admitted he laid down two kings and would've made quads.
