2025 World Series of Poker
Action was joined with the flop reading 6♦4♣J♠, and the pot already swelled. Ramon Kropmanns Da Silva checked from the big blind and Renan Maciel Menezes bet out from under the gun for 3,500. Matthew Berardi called from the button, and Da Silva folded.
The turn brought the A♦, and both players checked to see the 4♠ drop on the river. Menezes put out a hefty 17,000 bet, and after thinking for a while, Berardi made the call and mucked his cards as Menezes tabled A♠Q♠ for top pair.
The very next hand it was folded around to Da Silva in the small blind and he raised to 5,300 only for Menezes to three-bet to 31,000 effective, which put Da Silva all in. Da Silva snap called.
Ramon Kropmanns Da Silva: Q♠J♠
Renan Maciel Menezes: 2♣2♠
The flop came J♥2♥J♣, and Da Silva's trips were way behind Menezes' flopped full house. No queen or case jack on the 5♦ turn nor the 8♥ river, and Da Silva was sent packing.
Ao Chen decided to push his remaining stack of around 28,000 to the middle of the table and only Ken Oberlieben decided to call.
Ao Chen: 8♥8♣
Ken Oberlieben: Q♥Q♦
The dealer showed the board: 10♠9♣A♥4♥2♥.
Oberlieben was already ahead, unfortunately for Chen, the board didn't help him at all.
The board showed 8♦10♦6♦A♦, when the action was picked up. Charles Giroux was first to act in the big blind and chose to bet 4,000, Ignas Jasinevicius in middle position called. The river showed 8♦, both players checked.
Charles Giroux: 10♠7♥
Ignas Jasinevicius: J♦9♦
The pocket tens of Giroux didn't hold up against the straight flush of Jasinevicius.
Phil Hellmuth said months ago he would boycott the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. Many poker fans on social media, upon seeing video of his grand entrance on Thursday, are probably wishing he'd stuck to his original plan.
The "Poker Brat" traditionally arrives fashionably late for the $10,000 buy-in World Championship event he won in 1989. He showed up about five hours after play began on Day 1b, dressed like a 1980s hair band rockstar, full glam metal hairstyle and all.
Kevin Stevens opened under the gun to 2,400. Everyone folded except Yuan Yu in middle position. He decided to go all in with his remaining stack.
Yuan Yu: A♣K♥
Kevin Stevens: Q♣Q♠
Yu already stood up when he saw the cards of Stevens, while the dealer revealed the board: 6♠4♣4♦7♠Q♦. Stevens scooped the pot with a boat, ending the tournament for Yu.
Level: 9
Blinds: 600/1,200
Ante: 1,200
Olivier Busquet raised from middle position to 2,200, Andrew Rudnik moved all in for 13,900, and Sanjeev Mallick called from the button. Busquet bowed out, and the board was incoming.
Andrew Rudnik: K♦J♦
Sanjeev Mallick: Q♥Q♠
The board started well for Rudnik and then ended with a set for Mallick with 7♣8♦K♥Q♣3♣.
Renee Xie raised from the hijack to 2,200, and Sanjeev Mallick called from the small blind, and Brian Etheridge called from the big blind. The flop was 8♠2♣6♠, and both blinds checked to Xie, who bet out 3,200. Mallick stayed for the turn, and Etheridge folded.
The turn 3♥ saw a dark check from Mallick, followed by a check from Xie.
On the river 2♥, Mallick took a shot and bet out 8,000. Xie took her time and raised it to 25,000. Mallick admitted to a bluff and showed 10♦9♠. Xie quietly mucked and the table discussed, not seeing her hands yet.
Garik Tamasian raised from late position to 2,000, and Sanjeev Mallick called from the big blind. The flop came out as 2♦A♣5♠ and Mallick checked to the preflop raiser, who bet out 2,000. Mallick called.
On the turn J♠, Mallick checked again, and Tamasian made it a little higher with a bet of 10,000. Mallick called.
The river 5♦ was checked by both players.
Mallick turned over A♠9♦ for two pair, and Tamasian mucked.
