Main Event Record Holder Gets Double
Level 23
: Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Kurtis Ruhl potted it to 105,000 from the cutoff, and his only customer was button player Andrew Ostapchenko, who holds the record for most consecutive WSOP Main Event cashes. The two went off to a flop of K♠4♥6♣ and Ruhl checked his option. Ostapchenko bet out for just 50,000, and Ruhl called.
Ruhl then checked again on the J♦ turn, and this time Ostapchenko sized up, to 335,000. Ruhl check-shoved, and Ostapchenko quickly called to put himself at risk.
Andrew Ostapchenko: K♣K♥J♠7♠
Kurtis Ruhl: 10♠6♠6♦3♦
It was set over set, and there was no case six coming for Ruhl as the 8♠ river gave his opponent the double.
