In the final hand dealt of the previous level, Mauricio Pais raised from under the gun to 8,000, before John Juanda three-bet from the button to 20,000. Erick Lindgren then put in a cold four-bet from the small blind to 52,000.

Action was back on Pais, whose total stack was 44,000. After spending two or three minutes deciding what to do, he moved his chips into the middle.

Juanda folded what he would later tell the table was ace-jack.

With two players seeing a board of 5♣K♦10♠3♦ and around 40,000 in the middle Carlos Ribeiro checked from the small blind and Nicholas Seward bet 25,000 from the big blind. Ribeiro check-raised to 95,000 and Seward shoved for around 150,000. Ribeiro called with a covering stack to put Seward at risk.

Ribeiro had a pair and the nut-flush draw while Seward had the best made hand with a pair of kings. Seward's top pair held up on the 7♠ river and he doubled up through Ribeiro.

Brandon Sheils raised on the button to 12,000 and saw immediate resistance from John Juanda in the small blind. Juanda moved all in for 141,000 before Erick Lindgren, in the big blind, followed suit, moving all in covering both players from the big blind.

Sheils asked for a count of the stacks before realising his own stack of roughly 150,000 was covered by Lindgren. Nevertheless, he flicked in a call, and the three players flipped their cards over.

Arends quickly got out of the way while Zobian called with his remaining stack of 219,000, putting himself at risk.

Arends was in deep trouble to stay alive against the pocket kings of Del Pino, but the flop did offer a sliver of hope as it came Q♠7♣9♥ to give Arends a gutshot.

The Q♣ turn did not bring about any drama, and the 6♦ was the final card Arends would see in the tournament as he was sent out on the bubble.
