Dario Sammartino raised to 1,000 in early position. Todd Ivens three-bet to 3,500 as next to act, and Sammartino called after the action had folded back to him.
Ivens tossed in another 3,500 on the K♠K♥7♦ flop. Sammartino check-called, after which both players checked the 9♥ turn. Sammartino decided on a bet of 7,000 on the 5♣ river, winning him the pot when Ivens folded.
In a pot of 56,000, Scott Eskenazi checked the 10♣4♦J♦6♣9♥ board out of the big blind to George Wolff in the cutoff. Wolff only had 10,500 behind, which he casually dropped in to go all in.
Eskenazi gave it some thought, but ultimately deemed the price too good and called.
Wolff tabled A♠K♥Q♣4♠4♣ for a rivered straight, and Eskenazi's cards swiftly hit the muck in defeat.
After earlier action, Carlo van Ravenswoud made it 5,000 to go under the gun. Corel Theuma called in the cutoff, and PJ Cha did so in the big blind.
Van Ravenswoud continued for 9,500 on the K♥A♠9♥ flop. Theuma folded before Cha check-called. Van Ravenswoud pushed in his remaining stack of 30,900 on the 3♦ turn. Cha asked for a count before he check-called with the covering stack.
Carlo van Ravenswoud: A♥A♦Q♦J♥2♥
PJ Cha: K♠K♦8♣4♥2♠
The Q♣ river did not bring Cha a low, leaving him short-stacked as Van Ravenswoud's top set awarded him the pot.
After Nick Guagenti and Shaun Deeb had each put in 1,800 on the K♦6♠7♣ flop, Guagenti checked the 2♠ turn from middle position to Deeb in the hijack. Deeb fired a bet of 3,600, which Guagenti called.
Deeb then potted the Q♦ river, quickly being called by Guagenti. Deeb tabled A♠A♥8♥7♦3♠ for aces and the nut low, receiving three-quarters of the pot as Guagenti only played the same low with A♦J♥5♥5♣3♦.
James Schafer under the gun, Tobias Hausen in middle position, and Corel Theuma in the hijack were on a 10♣K♠J♦ flop. It checked to Theuma, who bet 6,400. Schafer called before Hausen piled in a raise to 23,000.
Theuma called, after which Schafer let his cards go. Hausen then quickly moved in his remaining 60,000 on the 2♠ turn. Theuma did not want to play for it all, and he mucked his cards to forfeit the pot.
One question always gets asked in the build-up to the World Series of Poker (WSOP): who are the best players still chasing their first bracelet? It's something PokerNews looks at every year.
But here's another angle worth exploring. Which players have actually won the most money at the WSOP without ever getting their hands on one of poker's most coveted prizes?
Some players have racked up millions in WSOP earnings, building their totals on one monster score, while others have chipped away year after year grinding the series.
On the 9♦Q♦J♥8♣ turn, Simeon Tsonev bet the pot of 7,000 from under the gun. Caitlin Comeskey called in the next seat over, after which the 8♦ river completed the board.
Tsonev quickly committed his final 4,000, being snapped off by Comeskey. Tsonev tabled K♦10♦ for a king-high flush, but Comeskey had a higher flush with A♦Q♥7♦6♣3♥ to eliminate her opponent.
