Dejan Kaladjurdjevic knows what it takes to run deep in a super high roller. The Montenegrin high-stakes player pulled that off in the 2024 Triton Montenegro $125K NLH Main Event where his second place finish earned him a $3,196,000 payout.
However, his first attempt at the $250,000 Super High Roller title at the 2026 World Series of Poker went up in flames after he attempted an ambitious five-high bluff in one of the opening levels of the summer's biggest buy-in tournament.
Jason Tomei raised to 1,000 in middle position. Casey Carroll called in the hijack before Dario Sammartino bumped it up to 5,300 in the cutoff. Tomei called, while Carroll folded.
After Tomei's check, Sammartino fired a pot-sized bet of 11,900. Tomel check-folded after some thought, prompting Sammartino to show the A♣.
Tomei tabled the K♣ in response, and the players shared a laugh as the pot was shipped to Sammartino.
Matthew Valeo limped in under the gun, thinking he was the big blind. Rob Hollink then raised to 1,600 in early position.
Leandro Pimentel in middle position, Luis Velador on the button, and Jason Riesenberg and Chase Crouch in the blinds all called, and the 3♥4♠3♠ flop after Valeo had called too.
The six players checked it through, and they did the same on the 3♣ turn. Hollink then bet 2,500. on the K♣ river. The other 25 cards in play hit the muck as Hollink was shipped the pot without showdown.
Four players saw the 8♣4♠3♥ flop, on which the action checked to Lawrence Brandt in middle position. He bet 5,500, folding out Anthony Zinno on the button.
Big blind Dylan Lambe then raised to 25,000, Brandt moved in for 30,800, and Lambe called.
Lawrence Brandt: A♥K♣J♥5♦2♣
Dylan Lambe: A♦7♣5♣2♠2♥
Both players had flopped the nut low with a wrap, but Brandt made trip kings on the K♠K♦ runout to secure three-quarters of the pot.
Taylor Atchison got his stack of 34,700 in from the hijack against Corel Theuma in the cutoff, and was slightly covered by his opponent.
Taylor Atchison: A♦A♣Q♠6♦3♦
Corel Theuma: A♥8♥7♣5♥5♦
The board 9♥8♠J♠J♥9♣. Atchison's aces held despite the sweaty runout, and he doubled up to eclipse the starting stack. Theuma, meanwhile, was left with just over 15 big blinds to try and spin up.
