Smooth Start for Negreanu

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Artur Martirosian opened to 8,500 and Daniel Negreanu called on the button whist saying "The most important thing is I have two re-buys". Gruffudd Pugh-Jones defended the big blind and the players went three-ways to the flop.

The 778 was fanned and action checked to Negreanu who bet 10,000. Both players folded, passing a small pot Negreanu's way.

Negreanu flashed two of his cards 87, showing he was good for the boat.

In the next hand Negreanu opened to 8,500 from the cutoff and Jason Mercier defended his big blind. The 10J5 flop was checked by both to the Q turn and through the 5 river to showdown.

Negreanu said "Tens" and tabled his A1043 which was enough for Mercier to muck.

He also picked up more when he opened the hijack and saw no further action, allowing him to get off to a smooth start after just joining the event.
