2026 World Series of Poker
The remaining six players are now on a 15-minute break.
Naseem Salem opened to 600,000 on the button and Paulina Loeliger asked for a count of Salem's stack before she defended her big blind.
The 3♥A♦4♥ flop was checked by Loeliger before Salem moved out 400,000. Loeliger called, and the pair saw the 3♦ turn.
Both checked to get to the 7♥ river, and Loeliger checked. Salem bet 800,000, which sent Loeliger into the tank for around two minutes. The clock was called, and Loeliger used around half her 25-second countdown before calling.
Salem tabled his A♥6♦ for two pair, and Loeliger was left to muck her hand.
Kevin Rand raised to 600,000 on the button. Naseem Salem defended from the big blind.
The flop hit 5♠K♣2♠.
After Salem checked, Rand bet 375,000. Salem called.
The J♦ on the turn, elicited another check from Salem and a 950,000-chip bet from Rand. Salem called again.
The 10♠ landed on the river. Again, Salem checked.
Rand gave it a minute of thought before checking back. Turned out to be the correct move.
Salem turned over J♠7♠ to show that he had made spades on the river.
Abhishek Mhatre opened to 600,000 from the hijack and Maxim Lykov moved all in for his last 2,130,000 from the small blind. Mhatre didn't take long to call and the players went to the runout.
Maxim Lykov: A♥K♠
Abhishek Mhatre: J♣9♣
Lykov's lead didn't last long as Mhatre flopped the flush on the 7♣K♣Q♣ board. There was no coming back on the 6♥ turn and Lykov stood from the table as the dealer placed the 5♦ river.
Naseem Salem opened to 600,000 from under the gun and Abhishek Mhatre moved all in for his remaining 2,215,000 on the button. Salem called and the pair flipped their hands.
Abhishek Mhatre: Q♥Q♣
Naseem Salem: 6♥6♠
Mhatre was needed to hold with queens and the 5♠K♦5♣ flop kept him there. A 2♣ turn and 4♠ river saw to his double up, keeping him in the tournament.
Abhishek Mhatre, perhaps wanting to represent that he was steaming, quickly shoved an all-in the very next hand after getting hurt badly by Christopher Vitch and losing 70 percent of his stack.
No one bit. He did take down the blinds, however.
Level: 32
Blinds: 150,000/300,000
Ante: 300,000
Abhishek Mhatre raised to 600,000 from middle position. Christopher Vitch three-bet to 1,600,000.
Mhatre moved all in. Vitch quickly made the call with his total of 5,270,000 chips, putting his tournament life on the line again..
Christopher Vitch: Q♦Q♥
Abhishek Mhatre: 6♥6♣
Vitch was in an excellent position to double-up and the runout cooperated, with the final board reading 2♣2♥3♣10♦8♣.
Vitch's pocket queens were indeed "safe," Vitch's rail said after the flop, turn and river.
Naseem Salem opened to 480,000 from the hijack and Abhishek Mhatre raised to 1,250,000 from the small blind. Salem responded with a jam at put his entire 3,775,000 stack at risk, and Mhatre paused, before moving in a stack to call.
Naseem Salem: A♠Q♦
Abhishek Mhatre: A♣10♣
Salem was ahead, and things stayed that way on the Q♥4♠A♦ flop, with Salem now looking at two pair. The 9♥ turn and 3♦ river kept Salem ahead and he locked up the double.
Mkatre went from chip leader to having a middling stack within just a few hands of the Level 30.
